West Brom come from behind to win at Sunderland this morning 2-1.

Nothing totally remarkable in that except that Tom Rogic got on the scoresheet for the first time in a Baggies shirt. And the goal was an absolute beauty! From the edge of the box he curled one in off the side of his foot.

He was on the bench to begin with but came on around the 60th minute with the score 1-0 to Sunderland. Totally changed the game and brought the Baggies back into it. He's now starting to show more of what he can do.
I saw it. Very good goal by Rogic. He’d be burning that he was overlooked for the world cup but it was the correct decision. Hard to think he wont be involved in 2023 though.

The EFL Cup still has two legged semi finals??? I just assumed they changed that because thats the obvious thing to do and it makes the most sense considering its the least important tournament and the schedule is already ridiculously packed due to the World Cup. But no, Quarters and both Semis games are in January and the final in February.

Can someone please give me a good reason why the tournament that a lot of clubs use as experience for their fringe and youth players needs two legged semi final ties?

So it appears the reasons are:

• Money (Premier League and their TV partners make enough money as it is, they wont miss the extra semi final).
• A team would get an unearned Home advantage (Weighed up against player welfare in a season like this, this is a sacrifice that can be made, besides the rest of the draw is done like this, whats the difference? Even still if it was that much of an issue for some people, then just play the semis at Wembley).

nunez missed 4 golden chances to send us through

He’s definitely had an up and down start hasnt he?

Pep loves the EFL Cup anyway, he’s probably the only one out of the big teams that takes it seriously tbh. I know Ten Hag wants it as well but I honestly couldnt give a **** about it. The schedule is too packed for it, especially for us since we have to play an extra tie for the Europa League against Barca no less. I mean I’ll be happy if we win it, we havent won anything for a while and an EFL Cup would be a good platform Ten Hag to build from, but at this point, im viewing this cup as an inconvenience.

Núñez is extremely quick and has good movement, will always get into goal scoring situations but his finishing has been poor. His technique can be pretty bad at times too.

Really hard to say which way he will go. I could see him scoring loads of goals or being shipped off in a season and a half

6 wins now out of the last 7 for my Baggies. 0-2 win away overnight against Bristol City.

Tommy Rogic playing well and another beautiful goal assist for our second goal.

Gone from 23rd in the league now up to 13th and only 3 points off the playoff places.

Just feel like the more I hear Erik Ten Hag speak, the more I feel United finally have the right guy in charge. I never got that feeling with Ole, as much as I love him. Just got to sort out the structure above him, really wish they’d let Ragniak take over the Director of football role or let him take on that consultancy role he was actually brought in to do, instead of what actually happened. Its a shame.

They look alright at the moment and Rogic is finding his touch again which is only a positive for the Socceroos, its hard to think he wont be involved in the squad in the March friendlies.

The Championship is one of the tightest races we’ve seen in years, so potentially anybody can go on a run.

Another victory for West Brom, that’s 6 wins out of the last 7 games. 2-0 win at home to Preston. Rogic not as prominent but still did well.

They are really firing under Corberan, next game at home on Jan 2 against Reading.

Really starting to feel like Arsenal can actually win this league.
I hope they do! Fair play to Arsenal for showing patience with Arteta, a lot of clubs would have sacked him.

Odegaard has been sensational

Franky the Tanky has to be in deep poop now. Everton were abysmal this morning.

Very good win by United though, gradually looking more and more like a Ten Hag team. Luke Shaw brilliant, he’s been a different player since Malacia has arrived to give him a boot up the arse. Rashford is having an absolute ripper of a season so far. De Gea has improved massively. Casemiro brilliant as usual. I feel bad for Van De Beek, his first start in god knows how long, looks ok in the first half with some good link up play, lands awkwardly and his knee bends the wrong way, just can’t take a trick that guy.

Tough run of games coming up though after the two cup games. City then Arsenal away.

The bold bit, not to start a blue but for comparison

Rashford has 6 prem goals and 3 assists and is having a ripper season

Nunez has 5 prem goals and 2 assists and is seen as having a stinker

rashford has played 156 more minutes as well, i guess the stinker comes from Nunez sitting atop of the missed chances table

Yeah I didn’t consider that but yeah that makes sense.

Also Rashford’s world cup form helps the perception of having a banger of a year, I felt he was one of England’s best and probably should of started against France.

its really odd, nunez has 1000% better stats than gabriel jesus, but jesus is considered the signing of the season and nunez gets columns written about him being shite

make no mistake, i think there is a good player in nunez and he is in a bad patch, his finish for the goal that was disallowed yesterday was phenomenal, its just odd that he gets slammed despite being close or better than players having "ripper" seasons
