Sharks Forever's ratings for Cronulla vs Wests Tigers (NRL Premiership, Round 6, 2006)

CRONULLA:
1. David Simmons - 5
Good try, pushing through three Tigers defenders. Missed a few tackles.
2. Darren Albert - 4
Did nothing.
3. Beau Scott - 5
Only given the ball in hopeless situations.
4. Phil Bailey - 6
Worked very hard. Unfairly penalised.
5. Luke Covell - 4
Not his day. Excellent work to save an in-goal drop-out late in the first half, but just before and after half time was involved in three crucial plays that essentially cost 18 points.
6. Brett Kearney - 6
Started badly, but excellent support play led to him scoring one try off a Lance Thompson pass, and going very close for a second. However, dropped off later in the game, with one glaring missed tackle resulting in a try.
7. Adam Dykes - 5
Another mixed bag. Some good tackles and kicks, some bad, and some terrible 5th tackle plays.
8. Ben Ross - 6
Got through a lot of work.
9. Kevin Kingston - 6
Typical Kingston effort.
10. Hutch Maiava - 5
Can't remember that much of his game!
11. Reece Williams - 5
Not his best game.
12. Lance Thompson - 8
Outstanding. Still a little slow around the ruck in defence, but his first half performance, particularly his off-loads, should have won us the game twice over.
13. Matt Hilder - 5
Solid, but nothing special.
14. Paul Gallen - 5
Started OK but was not on for long. Needed back in the starting team ASAP.
15. Luke Douglas - 6
Consistent.
22. Nigel Vagana - 6
Looked sharp on his return from injury. Some strong tackles too.
17. Tevita Latu - 6
Would have been good to see him on earlier!

CRONULLA:

WARNINNG: The following ratings and comments are going to be HARSH, but FAIR and HONEST. The players (and coach) should consider themselves lucky i have had time to cool down
Scored a good try but positional play, kick returns and defence were all poor.Is not looking like the answer to our fullback problems
2. Darren Albert - 2
I don't know if its the coaching or the player but he's not getting involved. If its the coaching its rubbish cause you could get a $40,000 a year player to do exactly the same as what he's doing now. Get more involved
3. Beau Scott - 5
Some good strong runs but will someone give him some decent ball and opportunities for once
4. Phil Bailey - 2
Stop giving away so many stupid penalties. Another tip, when playing in the forwards do some damn hit ups and keep away from the backs, you stuff up their chances. You are not Menzies
5. Luke Covell - 2
How many blunders does it take to get dragged from the field. He can kick...so what, we need a player who can kick and play
6. Brett Kearney - 6
I thought he was one of our best and should surely keep his spot. Finally a 5/8 who runs forward
7. Adam Dykes - 0
How many last tackle options can one player stuff up... and he does it week in, week out. I'd be looking elsewhere for a halfback cause he isn't the answer
8. Ben Ross - 6
Ran hard and strong all day, thought he should have had a lot more time on the field
9. Kevin Kingston - 1
Made some good early darts from dummy half again but gave away at least 5 stupid penalties which in my book is a reason for playing reserves next week
10. Hutch Maiava - 5
Another good performance but would like him to do more hit ups
11. Reece Williams - 3
Wasn't his best. Still needs to offfer more in attack. Perhaps off the bench is his spot in the team
12. Lance Thompson - 7
Was clearly our best, a strong runninng game and some good offloads . If only more players like kearney were there to take em
13. Matt Hilder - 3
Poor game, only got in the way of the backs and gave a few poor passes to his outside men. Back to reserves for a while perhaps Get Gallen in their ASAP
14. Paul Gallen - 4
Didn't get a great deal of time but played ok, guess its hard to show your best when the rest of the team are playing like a bunch of old women
15. Luke Douglas - 5
Good strong running, i think he is good enough to start, definitely showiinng up some of his more experienced team mates
22. Nigel Vagana - 5
Good return, but really had few opportunities in the backs due to many reasons, prefer him in 5/8 where he gets more ball, to good to play centres in our side, its just a waste of talent out there for him
17. Tevita Latu - 5
Why wasn't he put on earlier? Kingston was giving away stupid penalties and was obviously tired and there he is warming the bench, my god Raper wake up.
This team of ours (and the coaches and admin too), really needs a shake up, there are a few members of this team who are playing for contracts next year and i don't think they deserve one. What ever happened to 'Lets do it for Sludge.' Well Sludge would be turning in his grave with some of these performances

imasharkie's ratings for Cronulla vs Wests Tigers (NRL Premiership, Round 6, 2006)

CRONULLA:
1. David Simmons - 5
He still doesn't know what to do as a fullback. Either back to PL or back to the wing
2. Darren Albert - 4
Waste of money. He might be good in the ESL, but the NRL is above him
3. Beau Scott - 5
Does some weird things and should be sent to the wing where he can hog the ball all he likes.
4. Phil Bailey - 5
Phil mr penalties Bailey should never see the centre spot again. Prefer to see him in PL but Raper won't do that
5. Luke Covell - 4
His kicking keeps his spot. Try him at fullback and if he can't handle that, get rid of him.
6. Brett Kearney - 7
Great to see someone with a bit of speed and nouse. When BK comes back give Kearney the fullback spot.
7. Adam Dykes - 7
What do we do without him. Dykes guides us round the park, shame the players don't follow.
8. Ben Ross - 6
Works hard in attack and defence.
9. Kevin Kingston - 5
Stayed on the field for 30 minutes too long, otherwise he goes ok
10. Hutch Maiava - 5
Needs to start the match on the bench. His impact would be great.
11. Reece Williams - 6
Tackles non stop. Makes a few mistakes.
12. Lance Thompson - 8
Thank heavens we got him, otherwise the score would of been well over 50 and not much for us.
13. Matt Hilder - 6
Should be our kicker when Covell is sent packing. Lock is his position.
14. Paul Gallen - 6
Should be starting 2nd rower in the place of Williams.
15. Luke Douglas - 6
Strating prop is his position.
22. Nigel Vagana - 5
Pretty good for his first start this year
17. Tevita Latu - 6
Should be on the field for longer periods. Latu and Kingo should share the same amount of game time

WESTS TIGERS:
1. Brett Hodgson - 6
2. Michael Crockett - 6
3. Dean Collis - 6
4. Paul Whatuira - 6
6. Daniel Fitzhenry - 6
7. Scott Prince - 7

CRONULLA:
1. David Simmons - 5
Would play just as well on the wing... time to switch with Albert.
2. Darren Albert - 1
How long will it take before Raper finally moves him to fullback??
3. Beau Scott - 4
4. Phil Bailey - 2
Sooooo over him. Hope he leaves the club at the end of the year.
5. Luke Covell - 2
Good goal kicker. Bad tackler. Flies in from the wing too oftren and leaves a gaping hole for attackers.
6. Brett Kearney - 5
At least he ran forward and supported Thompson. Where was everyone else?
7. Adam Dykes - 6
8. Ben Ross - 6
A reliable workhorse as ever. Shame those around him dont take on more of the workload.
9. Kevin Kingston - 5
10. Hutch Maiava - 5
Carn Hutch, stop clocking off. Fire up for the full 80.
11. Reece Williams - 5
12. Lance Thompson - 8
Poor bloke. He left the dragons for this team of sad sacks.

Unregistered user's ratings for Cronulla vs Wests Tigers (NRL Premiership, Round 6, 2006)

CRONULLA:
1. David Simmons - 6
I don't know why people are so harsh on this kid. I reckon he's gonna be a special player - super quick, good hands, and he's only 20 years old. He can score tries when nothings on, like he did in this game.
2. Darren Albert - 4
Im not sure about Albert. Why do people think that because he played in England he'll be good? Whatuira made him look like a fool in the air. And he doesn't support the forwards to make breaks off their offloads. What else is a winger meant to do?
3. Beau Scott - 7
Beau Scott is awesome. He runs hard and he tackles harder.
4. Phil Bailey - 4
What on earth is this guy doing in the centres? He might be a decent second rower but he is useless in the centres. Everyone knows he wont pass so he's too easy to tackle. I pity the player who stands outside him. And for crying out load - STOP GIVING PENALITIES AWAY!
5. Luke Covell - 4
Missed an easy kick. Had a couple of tries scored on his side of the park.
6. Brett Kearney - 6
Kearney was good. Not sure about his directing of traffic and general passing game but he ran strong and was instrumental in some of the good work the sharks did.
7. Adam Dykes - 6
Sound performance. Was frustrated by the lack of ball that the team got due to penalties.
8. Ben Ross - 7
He's a good prop.
9. Kevin Kingston - 5
I don't think he's creative enough. Latu seems to have more spark.
10. Hutch Maiava - 6
Sound performance. Runs hard.
11. Reece Williams - 6
Tackled his heart out. Liked the niggle that he gave Chub.
12. Lance Thompson - 8
100% effort. I hope he plays the rest of his career in the black white and blue. I like his ethic.
13. Matt Hilder - 5
I think the sharks lack creativity in a number of key positions such as lock. Hilder is a great defender but we need something in attack.
14. Paul Gallen - 6
Sometimes Gallen sacrifices quantity for quality. I like it when he makes less runs but makes them worthwhile. Did it well when on the park.
15. Luke Douglas - 6
This kid seems like a player of the future. Strong runner.
22. Nigel Vagana - 5
Scored a try but did some bonehead stuff early on in sets. We didn't get much ball due to penalties so it didn't help when he threw it away when we did have it.
17. Tevita Latu - 7
Start him at hooker. He has spark and creativity. Something we lack.

Another tell tale performance from a winger playing fullback
2. Darren Albert - 5

Sorry Phil, probably better off in the forwards

Fair

If only Kimmorley played as hard as Dykesy does

Chad's ratings for Cronulla vs Wests Tigers (NRL Premiership, Round 6, 2006)

CRONULLA:
1. David Simmons - 4
Still needs to do more in attack. Scored a good try, showed his strength but seems a bit tentative
2. Darren Albert - 2
Seems to be the common comment throughout this forum that he doesn't go looking for the ball. I have to agree with that.
3. Beau Scott - 5
Look, this kid has potential. I think he could be a fantastic player. He has speed, strength and is a good defender. He's only young still - I think 2007 will be his best year. Don't give up on him.
4. Phil Bailey - 1
Poor old Phil's been copping it and unfortunately it's warranted. He's out of his depth in the centres and really needs to get back to the back row. As everyone has said, needs to lift his discipline.
5. Luke Covell - 5
In for his goal kicking but does have more than that. But he's not showing it.
6. Brett Kearney - 6
Looked pretty good against the Tiges and could press for a NRL berth even when Noddy comes back.
7. Adam Dykes - 6
I'm still not sure about Dykesy. He tries hard but sometimes takes stupid options on the last tackle. Sometimes a bit predictable with his kicking game.
8. Ben Ross - 7
I like the look of Ben Ross - he's a Origin forward and the mainstay of our pack. I think the broken cheekbone is still worrying him.
9. Kevin Kingston - 4
I thought Kingston would turn into a terrific player. He's made some great runs from dummy half this year but the last couple of games has seen him lose some of his dash.
10. Hutch Maiava - 2
Wouldn't even know that Hutch was there. Certainly a shadow of his former self from last year, needs to grunt up a bit.
11. Reece Williams - 3
Always promises so much but doesn't deliver. Tries his heart out but never seems to shine.
12. Lance Thompson - 8
Thank God we did buy him! My Dragon mates say that they were glad to get rid of him but that's ridiculous. He's been our best player this year so far - easily.
13. Matt Hilder - 3
Only coming back from injury so hard to rate. At his best he's certainly an asset in his ball skills and defence.
14. Paul Gallen - 3
Only back from injury as well - needs more game time. Gallen will be a great player when he improves his ball security - too much dropped ball last year.
15. Luke Douglas - 6
I like this kid, I think he has great potential. Charged well on the weekend without being spectacular but he deserves a starting spot in the pack alongside Ross.
22. Nigel Vagana - 5
Nigel's first game back was good - he scored his mandatory try and with confidence he'll get back to being the best. Much prefer him at five-eighth though.
17. Tevita Latu - 7
I thought he went well. Should probably start the game and if he could be an 80 minute player then keep him on.
