Sharks Forever's ratings for Cronulla vs Manly (NRL Premiership, Round 3, 2006)

CRONULLA:
1. David Simmons - 4
Stopped the ball flowing in the backline too many times, and flat-footed in defence.
2. Darren Albert - 6
Only got a couple of chances, and used one of them to score. Some good cover tackles. Needs more ball!
3. Beau Scott - 4
Missed a number of important tackles, at least one leading to a try. Will bounce back though.
4. Phil Bailey - 7
Great defence, scored a strong try, and had another good effort disallowed.
5. Luke Covell - 6
Fairly safe performance, was sin-binned for a professional foul (which ultimately did save a try). Some good runs from kick returns and dummy half.
6. Adam Dykes - 5
Could not take advantage of the poor Manly defence despite his many efforts. Some poor fifth-tackle options.
7. Brett Kimmorley - 5
Put in a kick for the first try, but didn't control the second half as he normally would.
8. Ben Ross - 7
Brave effort despite a bad broken nose early on. Helped get the Sharks on an early roll.
9. Kevin Kingston - 7
Tackled himself to a stand-still, and caused Manly many problems with his dummy-half runs. Could maybe have been interchanged earlier.
10. Hutch Maiava - 7
Also was good early on, particularly when Ross was off, helping the Sharks to their 12-0 lead.
11. Reece Williams - 6
Big contribution of 40 tackles, but held up the ball in the backline too often.
12. Lance Thompson - 7
Looked slow in defence, letting in one try near the line, and missing some tackles, but was the Sharks' most dangerous forward in attack, with good offloads and tough hit-ups. Really puts in.
13. Greg Bird - 5
Came alive late in the game, but didn't particularly stand out overall.
14. Cameron Ciraldo - 5
Tackling was a lot better than last week, but still can deliver more.
15. Luke Douglas - 6
More strong tackling, a solid follow-up to his debut last week.
16. Luke Harlen - 5
Nothing spectacular, but nothing spectacularly bad! Should improve with more game time.
17. Tevita Latu - 5
Did not get on the field for long. Looked dynamic, but some awful passes from dummy-half.

1. David Simmons - 5
Played well in parts but poor in others, needs to get involved more in attack e.g.backing up
2. Darren Albert - 5
Was he even on the field? Scored a try but would have been lucky to see the ball 5 times. Why buy a player of his quality if your not going to use him?
3. Beau Scott - 5
Seemed strong in attack, but what was he thinking running out of the line for Bell's try?
4. Phil Bailey - 6
Strong in defence, but not a centre. Vagana S.O.S
5. Luke Covell - 5
Did nothing special, could be the first dropped this year.
6. Adam Dykes - 4
Will someone tell this bloke that you can over use the grubber kick. That's all he did all night apart from run across field and run his centres out of room
7. Brett Kimmorley - 5
A quiet, structured game from Noddy. We need him to take on the line more if we are to go well this year
8. Ben Ross - 7
Gutsy, no doubt about it. didn't have to come back on but did and played strongly.
9. Kevin Kingston - 7
Smart dummy hallf work set up a good first half for us
10. Hutch Maiava - 5
Really needs to lift on his performances on the last 2 weeks

Solid but nothing special
12. Lance Thompson - 6
Strong in attack but needs a better defensive effort

Still to live up to the wraps that those in the club put on him. Never really threatens the defence
14. Cameron Ciraldo - 4
Nothing special, needs to be more of an impact playere if he is to keep his spot

Decent performance again. Went forward in attack

A satisfactory debut. hopefully he can build on his confidence
17. Tevita Latu - 5
Should have had a lot more time on the field in my opinion. Seems quick and smart so why not use him more?
