He is just a glory hound. Trying to save his skin. Why do you think all these cheap sponsorships are popping up now?

Exactly. No doubt labour health, martec, and whatever these others are will be nowhere but a small sign at the stadium next year. If that.

The "objective view" would be that he didn't do **** to get the development over the line. That's a fact.

When you do things like this you lose credibility. Why not just come out and say anything if it doesn't matter? Why not just say "we've got a million-squillion-cajiliion dollars now"?

This is not a good way to earn trust or show integrity.

He could have easily just said:

"In year X we had 14 million dollars debt. Now because of the hard work of many people and the development we have reduced it to 3 million"

or, if he didn't want to be so kind, he could have said:

"In year x we had 14 million dollars debt, but now because of the development we only owe 3 million"

The above would have been correct AND it would have got good publicity FOR THE CLUB. Same "postive" outcome, no controvery.

It's pretty simple stuff.

And the funny thing is, if he did actually use one of the above statements it would have probably reflected well on him anyway, as he's the one spruking it.

This.

Previously I didn't have an strong opinion of him one way or the other - just saw him as another ineffective politician wannabe in a long line of mismanagers at the helm of the Sharks Club.

Now I have a strong opinion of him - and it isn't a good one. I will remember this lie of his when it comes to voting time.

What I find frustrating is that Keogh is the CEO of Hoyts Group, surely he would be able to spruik their board to jump on a sponsor if he is such a good administrator.

It also seems like he doesn't believe in the Sharks brand if he doesn't try that as an option, Hoyts I can imagine would have some cash floating around

You would find that this may be considered as conflict of interest

Agree. Hoyts need to do what's best for them, not the Sharks. If they don't see value in sponsoring us then they won't, regardless of links their CEO has with us.

i am hopeful that when that deal ends, that they will move into a sponsorship role with us

Is there any talk yet of a opposition ticket to oppose the current board yet?

It would want to be close to being in place, cause I get the feeling that the current board will start wheeling out sponsorships ( even if they are only small current ones recommitting for a season prior to the AGM claim that they are sticking around another year) and photos of gal, polies and board members turning soil on the development, it will paint a Rosie picture and reelection will be a sinch.

the problem there mate, is that the numbers that voted them in were huge, and i would bet that the vast majority had ties to the junior league, more so de la

it would take a huge effort to get them out

Like most others, I have to disagree with this. He has to be independent in his role as CEO at Hoyts. What is good for Hoyts may not include sponsoring the Sharks. He needs to be independent in his role as a Shark and as Hoyts CEO.

It'll be interesting to see the sponsor count come round 1 2015 given all these "for the remainder for the 2014 season" agreements.

Regardless of who comes back , these "remainder of the season " agreements are all bringing money intot he coffers that we would not have otherwise had

Don't think that mattered to Tinkler, pretty sure he was/is on the board on of Hunter Ports.

"Mr Tinkler, Matthew Keen and Hunter Sports Group chief executive officer Troy Palmer are the directors of Hunter Ports, and Oceltip Ports Investments is the sole shareholder."

source: http://www.theherald.com.au/story/334359/business-in-a-new-port-but-sponsorship-stays/

**** i always thought it said hunter sports. Shows how much attention i pay to that bag of dicks

This is true, but for some reason the nrl is so greatly scrutinised now that clubs sponsorship situations are even worthy of a headline.

We for the first time in 2-3 seasons have a jersey with no empty realestate. As of rd1 next year only one solutions and blades remain. Highly likely that we see these companies in a smaller capacity, i think ENZED will probably remain on the jersey. Doubt labour force/health will
