It was a short exchange on the episode with the social media guy from the Sharks... episode before last maybe? Just caught my ear as it was about the club being short of cash or along those lines. They moved on pretty quickly
yeah I listened to that too and didn't pick up on it.

Was it the same " social media guy " employed by the club who criticised the club on twitter at time of the Morris saga.

The club hosted a members night in the Chairman’s Club marquee… nicely done, if a bit long, but shows the professionalism of a fairly small team. Fitzy spoke as well (unplanned), and you can see why he’s inspiring the team. Mooney also sounds on top of everything.

On the financial side, Sharks are ahead of their budget/forecast, and expect to make a group profit of about $300K for their financial year starting November (though that includes returns on investments too). Kareela expected to make about $1.1 million profit, even though it has been hit by golf course closures.

New development expected to open all in one grand opening around this time next year (previously it was going to be staged). Club will get access to the new leagues club 6 months prior to grand opening for fit out.

Next year will be reduced capacity, and there will be changes to the family hill over summer, but they expect final stadium capacity to be back to 16000-17000 (not quite sure where everyone else will fit). Current capacity is around 11,500 with only 4,500 tickets available each round to non members.

Coffs Harbour Bowling Club plan not going ahead at this stage (mutually agreed).
I’ll bump this. But who knows 🤷‍♂️

Sam from Sharkcast hinted at there being financial issues at the club while speaking with a guy who worked at the club. Anyone know anything more?
Sounds like you might need to timestamp this as I didn't catch that either. I thought there was a joke about spending some of the 40m in the bank or something? That was the only money aspect I can remember.

I listen to all Sam's podcasts and don't recall either. I'm sure if it was serious some jurno would have jumped on it.

I think overall we are doing OK at the moment, but still we run on a very tight budget and less staff (on less $) compared to other clubs. I didn't hear the episode but imagine the social media guy would probably just have been referring to that if anything.

Without being an accountant it's very hard to 100% know where all the development money is going, but that's what auditors are for. The leagues club fitout will be very expensive, and I believe they were looking at getting a loan for that, given finance was cheaper at the time than using the investment fund. Overall there will always be a point where the money probably runs down, it's just about trying to make sure the two leagues clubs and any other investments are profitable by then.

Yep probably relates to being tight on cash because of those things you've mentioned, SF
