Yeah Ben Ross mentioned on Facebook, it also came up at the AGM but wasn’t fully public news then. Seems like a tough job, always chasing their tail, you wonder if we could resource membership dept a bit more.

Agree re Dino
Yep , membership team has been under-resourced since around start of Covid but then again so have other areas of the club.

Ben had resigned before AGM & finished up after our last home game.

They had recruited a deputy to Ben beginning of last year but unfortunately resigned by end of last year.

Ben & his very competent assistant have done a stellar job this season with the issues around the return to Pointsbet so we look forward to James Peters being able to continue the good work and hope he gets the resources needed.

Tallis is an A grade wanker.
I bumped into him once on holiday in the lift and he just looked at me as if to say “how ****’n dare you get into the same lift as me”.
Totally full of himself and dumb as all ****!
Luckily for him he could bully people on a footy field better than most others could.
You were lucky to get away with a clean sheet after that illegal lift

The club hosted a members night in the Chairman’s Club marquee… nicely done, if a bit long, but shows the professionalism of a fairly small team. Fitzy spoke as well (unplanned), and you can see why he’s inspiring the team. Mooney also sounds on top of everything.

On the financial side, Sharks are ahead of their budget/forecast, and expect to make a group profit of about $300K for their financial year starting November (though that includes returns on investments too). Kareela expected to make about $1.1 million profit, even though it has been hit by golf course closures.

New development expected to open all in one grand opening around this time next year (previously it was going to be staged). Club will get access to the new leagues club 6 months prior to grand opening for fit out.

Next year will be reduced capacity, and there will be changes to the family hill over summer, but they expect final stadium capacity to be back to 16000-17000 (not quite sure where everyone else will fit). Current capacity is around 11,500 with only 4,500 tickets available each round to non members.

Coffs Harbour Bowling Club plan not going ahead at this stage (mutually agreed).

They are looking at tendering the club fit out works very soon so that would line up with those dates.

Thanks for good summary .

I suspect some of the 16000-17000 capacity mentioned anticipated receiving at least some of the government money for upgrades which now appears more uncertain . Unfortunately Dino was not well , he may have elaborated a little more if he was there.

I have to admit, I was angry with how it all went down.
I wasn’t against Fitz but thought that Morris deserved his opportunity.

oh, how I was wrong…..

Mateeeee there was just a few of us who hated us under Morris but there was a lot of people loved Morris - I was very confused, imagine he was still here and we lost the opportunity to get Fitz.

The amount of players that have said how good the change has been and how strong the culture is now tells you alot

Not disagreeing at all.

I admitted that I thought Morris deserved an opportunity and was disappointed at how it went down but admit the club made the right decision.

I would have loved a win win and if the club and Morris had been able to work out that he stayed on and took care of the junior development. He does seem to develop young players very well.

Anyway, in hindsight and with our season, Fitz has been amazing and I’m grateful of gettting Fitz as our HC.
The team has progressed in leaps and bounds, not to mention that we probably only get Nico and Dale cos of Fitz…

I felt the same way too.

Was sorry for Morris but felt this was the right direction to go.

Anyone who was mad at the club for picking Fitz over Morris should log off

Its a business and we made the best business decision in the last decade to do what we did
I think you are missing our point of view Snow.

At the time……

Yes there were some raised eyebrows but people (including me) are admitting now that the club had made the right choice and made a decision which has been the best for the club (my POV was wrong at the time).

My original sentiment was that Bomber did well (not fantastic admittedly) with the limitations he had at the time, thought he deserved a chance with a full salary cap.
He had a season behind him and was in a position to move forward with “his team”.
He also seemed to have a good rapport with the playing group (from the outside looking in at a least).

Fitz didn’t know the roster and hadn’t officially coached at NRL level (although a highly regarded assistant) and that was my initial thought process.

As I’ve said above though. I admit my view was wrong and happy to concede that point

The club “moved forward” with Fitz which was a brilliant move.

I don't think many were mad for picking Fitz, more for the way the situation was handled. I thought it was a massive risk at the time going for another rookie coach, and was happy for it as long as the board was accountable one way or another. Looking back, they should be accountable for their fantastic decision and receive all the necessary adulation.

Massive credit to everyone involved. Fitz really has been the revelation we needed.

There wasn’t much wrong with how it was handled and Morris certainly wasn’t hard done by

Maybe. He had to deal with a pretty ****ed cap situation and a squad full of expensive players that were over the hill whilst bringing through a bunch of juniors who have gone on to become the core of our side.. It also felt like our season went out the window with his sacking, but maybe there is no good way to sack a coach. If there is I certainly don't know how you'd do it. I don't think he 'deserved' to have a crack with the full cap, but he was definitely unlucky to not have a chance, much like Pay at the dogs.

From the outside I felt sorry for him, but I don't know the ins and outs of what was happening behind closed doors. The board did and they made a call. One that is looking like it could pay off for a long time
