How did you get the cash ?

I have put my seats up twice. The first I had to ask the club if anyone purchased them and the second I havent been told at all and haven’t bothered asking.
You get a membership credit at the end of the season. They say they will contact you. But yeah it needs to be more automated still. Need to be able to login to the Sharks app, relist seats with a couple of clicks, get cash when they are sold. But that sort of thing would need NRL/Ticketek dev work, and it’s not a big issue for most clubs

I'll gladly take anyone's seats if they can't make any of the home games in August :sneaky::sneaky:

Same mate, since 1982. It shouldn't be hard these days with technology. As I said, it's working at other grounds.

People will say well buy a season seat...well no, I can't get to many games.

Mate of mine is a Parra fan and has a 5 game membership. Can choose any 5 games he wants, that's awesome. I know that's impossible for us with limited seating though.
You say it shouldn't be hard with technology - you forget the Sharks ticketing is through Ticketex , nothing is easy.

Wed 19-Feb-2025: 12 noon: Close of nominations

I imagine the official notice will get published on the Sharks @ Kareela website this week.

I hope we see someone new nominate. It seems forever since there has been an actual election.

Do we need anyone new,? Seem to be functioning pretty damn well.
They probably are. I just always think transparency and elections are healthy. Every board we’ve ever had has tried to hide the election. I do understand the argument for stability, but it’s been a long time now.

In the end the leagues club is still not finished, and it is going to be an extremely expensive fit out. It seems to me there are some major decisions and real risks ahead now the remainder of the development money will basically go into the fit-out. And there should also be more transparency to members regarding the fit-out and tenders, given it’s probably the biggest expense in our history since the original leagues club. I appreciate the CEO and Chairman’s update emails, but the only time we ever really learn the true state of affairs is at the AGM.

Notes from AGM -

Roof now on club , Drainage still to be connected
No handover date for fitout as yet

Cost -
Roof 4.5m
Facade 6.0m
Fitout 28.0 m

To be funded by CBA loan ( as yet undrawn ) & Cash but also Very hopeful (expecting) of getting some compensation from developer for the delay.

Ready to seek firm quotes for fitout - have been in constant contact with 3 candidates for an extended period .

Facade works expected in Aug - Dec period but subject to handover date.
Opening expected Early 2025 .

Just a reminder from last year about the costs involved in the fit-out

Agree on transparency, that can only ever be a good thing.

Tbf usually a good candidate probably knows everything they need to know well in advance without a public notice

A pain in the arse finds out late through no effort of their own

That's the beauty of elections though, you can choose which one you want.

I'm not looking for an overthrow of the board or anything like that. The good thing about triennial elections is that any group trying to take over the board would have to do it in two subsequent years, there's less chance of an ambush. And definitely not ungrateful for the work they do (e.g. I know I'm not anywhere near as qualified!).

I just think we have had strong candidates who've contested elections in the past, and we should be looking for all the best people possible. Our confusing football club membership rules make it very difficult though.

Agree with your sentiments.

Overall I have no issue with the current board & certainly do not subscribe to the theory that they need to have a " rugby league " background .

However I do feel there has been a lack of transparency about the proposed fitout of the new club & the latest projected cost.

There’s an election notice on the Sharks Kareela website now, though it goes to the wrong link
