Blind faith gets us nowhere. This is a forum, you are allowed to use your own brain.

Snowman is right, if Fitz thinks a Moylan/Hynes combo is whats best for the team then he is a dud.
It is not blind faith or not using your brain. It is simply my opinion that instead of prematurely writing about what ifs, just to wait and see what Fritz will do. The guy has not even officially started yet and we are talking about how he is a dud and will not see the end of season if he does this and that. If you like that kind of brain exercise, go ahead, of course, you are entitled to. However, writing what I have written, does not qualify me as someone who does not use his brain.

"In Fitz We Trust" is correct (at least for me) because he is the one paid big bucks to do something with this team. I do trust him and can't wait to see what he is going to do. I am excited and that is something I am entitled to at the beginning of a new season.

I may not know the technical ins and outs of the game as much as you guys do, however, I do know when something is working or not. In this case, I am simply waiting to collect more data. Right now, I do not think I (we) have enough data to have a discussion about this. That time will come but it is not now.

Nah you see the window lickers in facebook moving Kennedy to centre and Trindall to the wing because they absolutely know more than a first grade coach.

If Fitz rolls out Moylan and Hynes then he must think that's the best pairing, or there's injuries and that's all we have.

I don't personally see it but stranger things have happened and if nuffie like you can see it then I'm sure Fitz does
What I understand from the article is that Fitz knows about Moylan and he rates him highly. We all know what Moylan can do when he is fit and is on fire. I think it is normal and even natural that Fitz is talking about Moylan at this time of the year.

Let's go through the pre-season training, let Fitz see how the halves connect and get a more in-depth look about Moylan's physical condition. He may even try Hynes/Moylan for a game or two to confirm to himself whatever he is confirming.

I do not personally see it either but let's see what Fizt will think. Nothing we heard, has seen and read about him so far says that he is a dud.

I can see why Fitz would be saying Moylan/ Nicho.

They are the two biggest names. A former rep player and the big name recruit.

It’s kind of their position to lose, rightly or wrongly. Even from a man management position it’s the easiest default.

If their shortcomings don’t satisfy the requirements of the team then the dropping becomes obvious.

Let’s just hope peak Fifita returns next season and we won’t need a long kicker. A 40m run every set would do the job...

If you could get only one which one would you choose: A peak and fit Fifita or a peak and fit Moylan?

I have been seriously excited ever since hearing about Fitz.

However the second I read that report about Moylan I just hoped that Fitz hasn’t watched all of the sharkies game over the last 3 years….

Given time he reviews the Moylan situation and comes to realisation that Moylan is firstly no where near the player from 5 years ago and is now continuously injured even when he is supposedly fit to play.

And secondly he has never been able to kick….and def can’t now.

Seriously the thought of Moylan / Hynes is sickening….. Moylan should become a salesman

No, because by round 2 Moylan will be injured and not playing at all...😉

I wonder if our new football staff will be able to get a few more games out of him.
It's certainly possible... that he will be injured

Moylan played 15/24 which is not great by any stretch but is not awful.
Played more than SJ, Katoa, Dugan, Graham
Same as Talakai
Same as Wilton although was mostly selection for him

1 less than Chad played across two clubs, 1 less than Ronnie, 2 less than Ramien

Definitely an improvement on his last two seasons.

In regards to quality of play as viewed by Sharks Forever
We gave Moylan 0.7 votes per game he played, good for equal second with SJ (WK 1.6 per game, clear leader).
If you don't count games he started on the bench he got .875 votes per game.
Trindall for comparison got only .44 per game although did much better as a starter where he was 0.8 per game.

So our voting on here, where Moyza is pretty unpopular, he consistently polled well when playing.

2018 13.5 votes in 24 games (0.56 per game) 4th overall
2019 8 votes in 11 games (0.73 per game) 7th overall
2020 0 votes in 8 games (0 per game)
2021 10.5 in 15 games (0.7 per game) 5th overall

Collectively Sharks Forever has voted that Moylan has been pretty good for us

This is not necessarily intended to indicate he should partner Hynes as it is definitely a questionable pairing in terms of styles and contribution, Trindall and Hynes is a much more obvious halves pairing, just pointing out he hasn't been overly bad for us, that seems to be an impression people have because they are frustrated with him.

That voting patterns quite interesting. As Thresher i think said when he's on, he's our main or close to it,one of our 3 top Attacking threats. Other teams know it, coaches know it, like it or not.... or we just buy 2 additional trickier, similarly experienced players, which may cost a Bomb.

In relation to the voting. The games trindall didn’t start he played on average under 20 minutes quite hard to accumulate points (where Moylan played more then 40)

I am surprised that Trindall as a rookie when starting in the team scored on average higher per game in scoring then Moylan has over the last 3 years

Not bad is it, I'm certainly not making an argument against Trindall I am just making sure Moylan's contribution is fairly acknowledged.
In saying that Moylan has a 17-13 record as a starter and Trindall has 6-9 in that space of time.

Last season as most recent point of comparison Moylan (largely unpopular) did poll better than Trindall (largely popular).

Personally as I've said at this stage I probably would have preferred we just let Moyza go and spend the money elsewhere. Trindall looked competent to do the job and Metcalf looks solid to back up, maybe buy in another youngin to compete with Metcalf and keep spine numbers up.

We have signed Moylan though so I am not just going to pretend like he doesn't exist or hasn't played a good game for a few years.
I'll trust Fitz to watch everyone through preseason and trials and make the right decision for now.

I do think Trindall will have to earn the jersey over Moyza through that period though, and Fitz won't just pick him because he is younger and may keep improving.

Back on those numbers (which mean nothing to Fitz) maybe .8 per game starting and kicking is more valuable than .875 and no kicking, it probably is actually. But then as recent as round 24 when playing together Moylan got our 3 votes and Trindall our 2, maybe Fitz will be happy enough with Hynes' kicking the better player in other areas wins out?
