I honestly have nfi what Langy's plans are for 2012, except (apparently) he's retiring from coaching.

The reason I asked about whether he's still black about being sacked:

  • He is highly regarded by Easts Brisbane.
  • I was treasurer for one of their junior clubs for many years (Mt Gravatt) and had a close association with the Easts board and former players (eg: Des Morris).
  • There is a lot of hate amongst the Easts fraternity for the Sharks because of how we apparently treated him - their version of the story is he got a phone call from the Sharks board mid-season saying he wasn't required next year.

Not true. Both Souths and Canberra were interested.

You know that is really interesting. The 3 clubs that were after him Best had previously played for.

Here is my theorem: Best adds more to the club than his onfield performance. Hence why us three were after him. But as he isn't in the top echelon of centres, no other clubs were interested. Reminds me of Covell.

Lets compare this to say... Carney... Mhm....

Yeah, Matterson and Morgan. Morgan has taken Hull KR from being terrible to being pretty handy, and he turned Dobson in to their halfback of the year. They play a good style of footy too.

They might be able to bring a decent back or two over with them too...

Looks like the Cowboys beat us to Matterson and Morgan might be heading to Canberra, bugga.

i also thought he had nothing to do with the 20's this year?

Thats right, He didn't he was assist nrl coach to Flanagan, meaning that position is open. Hope we hire someone experienced and decent. I heard lance Thompson will have a role but hope we do better than that.

James Sheppard returning? This guy seems to have missed out on some well deserved accolades. He has turned our 20's team around, done a brilliant job, he must be retained.

He's been very good and I am all for him being retained (assuming there is any question about the matter) but I think "turning the team around" is a little unfair to Grima. Our team hasn't been bad, but the first grade side has been forced to raid their talent for a couple of years and we havne't being using the full cap I believe. I concede it is excuses but I think Grima did a good job too.

With Johnny Lang retiring from full time coaching, I reckon he would be a great asset to have around assisting.

agree with you Gil/Snowy/Sharky P.
Johnny Lang would be a great assett to our club.

Do we have a sprint coach at the club? Zane Campbell (from around here originally) was at Souths, but I heard he's not in the new coaching group next year (could be wrong).
