Official Briton Nikora

51 mins

5 runs
31m

Not good enough.

Was one of my biggest complaints about him. He can run a phenomenal line, but outside of that we’re getting nothing out of him when we have the ball in hand.

With how fast today’s game is played, we can’t afford to have a forward on the field that isn’t doing his fair share of hard yakka.

Has he got enough grit to force his way back into the starting team? I thought he was a star, I don’t know anymore.

I think halves needs a strong connection with their 2nd rower. It’s not happening at the moment. Brit probably would have been better defensively in the centres than Talakai.

He just looks like he doesn't want to play footy at the moment.

We all grow out of it at some stage I guess.

Go get a book keeping diploma or something and move on to the next stage of life.

18 months ago Brit was arguably the 3rd best backrower in the NRL
Not sure what has happened but needs to re-find it, hopefully the benching inspires him

He'd been a good player off the same skills for 5 years before that too, so it's not like everyone all of a sudden figured him out

Yes he primarily attacks one line, as the best runner of it in the game on his day. But we also used him at times for trick plays like ending up with him breaking down the sideline

2024 v 2025
Games: 25 v 23
Tries: 10 v 7 (every 2.5 vs every 3.3)
Linebreaks: 11 v 9 (every 2.3 vs every 2.5)
Offloads: 25 v 19 (every game vs 1.2)
Tackles made: 942 v 680 (38 per game vs 30 per game)
Running meters: 2241 vs 1827 (average 89 v 79)

So statistically there was just a general slide
Minutes and run meters are down however offloads are ahead of 2024 numbers. Only 1 try in 4 games though. In 80 minutes tackle volume is nearly back up, and making them at a much better rate, currently almost 97% when 2024 was nearly 91 (and actually, his career low)
I don't think Brit has changed, but the game has. We just haven't found how to use him well.
I've said it before, but the model is probably closest to Galvin and Preston. Run the same angles but sometimes from 40 metres out, not just against a defensive line starting 3 metres away.

Our whole gameplan is to grind until we get into the red zone, then try to get over. Teams aren't scoring 50 points by doing that today. The attack starts from the halfway line now. Move the ball, offload.

Fitz talks of attitude yet this bloke is gifted his starting spot back

I get it's prob a decision more around team balance than outright form but I really hope Briton can do the job defensively because there hasn't been much doing with the ball for him. I was hoping coming from the bench would spark him like the first game he came from the bench but he has been mediocre.

He gets crunched on that line run near inside the 20 more often than not now seems to spill the ball than go over for a try and he doesn't give us many carries over 80 mins

Burns ain't perfect and yea I get he has a high missed tackle count but Sifa/Hiroti are prob gunna get owned on that edge anyway and at least Burns brings a bit of sorely missing mongrel and desire and he's good for a try contribution or line break most games.

Nikora gives us an outcome in attack like once every 4 games or something

Teig & Burns are offering so much more to the team

Anyways I hope Briton has to earn the incumbency back with good performances and this isn't just a formality selection

Yeah my patience is wearing thin with him. He's signed until 2027, he's not showing me anywhere near enough over the last year or so to suggest we keep him.

After last week I hope no one is getting picked on their attacking attributes. I don’t give a **** if Brit scores a try, just tighten up that edge.

maybe they identied that burns missing so many tackles pulls the outside players in and have put nikora if to stiffen this up

Will this be the first week in a very long time all our forwards are available for selection (albeit Sifa playing in the centres)?

Will need to check the weeks before Cam did his ACL.
