Official Briton Nikora

Are we thinking Brit finds himself down the pecking order this season? Looks like we’ve gone straight back to what worked at end the of last season with Billy and Teig. Form hasn’t been great for a while now, rev up may be a good thing

Angry Nikora seems to work best.

Seems to be naturally chilled.

Tommy Raudonikis/Roy Masters would have turned him into a monster.

We haven’t had all 3 of Billy, Wilton and Brit available yet this season to really get an idea.

Not sure if he could cop the punishment like those players could...

Some very hard hombres back then...

What’s everyone’s thoughts with him regarding origin.

Will he get picked for the Qld squad?

I reckon finefuaki is probably ahead of him in the pecking order at this stage. Then you’ve got blokes like cotter and Gilbert who Billy picks on the edges gonna be tough for him

I think game 1 he at least be in camp but may not play. Sharks have the bye so no harm in having him as player #22 or something.

Qld like to have new guys in and around the team for a bit before they actually pick them - although this is a very new situation. We've never seen how they behave when a 28yo gun player suddenly becomes eligible.

I would pick him - but Qld have shown for years that they will pick a decent player from a Qld-based team (or Melbourne) ahead of a guy playing better club footy elsewhere. I think he ticks the "origin player" boxes though.

When we were playing the warriors I was thinking we don't need to risk this guys nose, just leave him on the bench and give him another week. If Only!

A knock on the beak and a burner to go with it

30-16 up when he came on with 27 to play, could definitely have run out Hohepa at lock and left Billy on the edge.

Although if he is cleared to play no reason not to use him. His tackle efficiency maybe indicates he was a bit wary of contact though.
7-2 that game, 109-2 rest of the season.

Billy Burns has turned out to be one of the best depth signings for the Sharks in recent memory

Kinda screwed without him IMO and couldn't even consider him depth anymore - he is a player you pick in your 17 every week and frankly it's up to Nikora to prove otherwise

Even then Burns brings good versatility and backup from the bench or as 18th man (worse case)

I still think Nikora from the bench (not playing 80 mins) has potential as him having more energy to put into his runs could be a game changer if we give it a chance. As it stands he is a tackling workhorse that musters the odd run and the fatigue hurts his game IMO.

Just because Burns is the "backup" or forward utility doesn't mean he can't start on the run on side. Can always do a reshuffle or bring on Nikora earlier in the game if need be
