I just watched the highlights again and Trindall was in everything. He just seems to want to be where the ball is. I'm loving the way he makes the defence commit before passing, and that flick pass to Nikora to put Talakai over was class. Can't imagine our incumbent half doing that, can anyone else?

We can't afford not to give Trindall a start. He brings that touch of 'X' factor that we have been missing.

But we had the most tries in the whole league before Johnson hurt his groin, not sure missing amounts of X factor are anywhere near our major issue.
We can 100% afford not to give Trindall a start if Chad will add more in other areas rather than a flick pass he hypothetically (but likely correctly) wouldn't do.
Chad is still equal 4th for TAs I find it very hard to be convinced he is somehow hampering our attack. Throw in SJ at clear number 1 and Kennedy at equal 10th and X factor and flick passes are not our issue.

Trindall has a much bigger general play boot, which I like, although SJ has taken on much more of the kicking so that has been less of an issue.

I like Trindall, I am excited to see more of Trindall
But playing quite well against a bit of a shambles of a Cowboys team (3rd last in the NRL) hasn't convinced me that if Bomber picks Chad ahead of him it is some kind of crazy, undeserved loyalty move Bomber is doing to hurt his own career because Chad has played more games and thus will be given unfair starts, even though other experienced players like Moylan have already been dropped.

Trindall puts up a bomb just as good as Chad.
Woods can now put a sleight of hand pass to BHU just as good as Chad.
Trindall can kick so much longer than Chad.
Trindall hits much harder than Chad.
Trindall tackles are more effective than Chad's.
Can't remember Trindall throwing one inside ball.

Conclusion: We don't need Chad.

I'm yet to see a single VLog by Trindall. I'm not ready to risk good production values and consistent release schedule

Bort, mate, I know you are a Chad supporter but even you must admit that he is very predictable. Perhaps I should have used 'flair' instead of 'X Factor' as Trindall has lots of 'flair' and Chad, well Chad is Chad.

Bomber has some soul searching to do this week if Chad is fit. There are some who are tipping Chad/Tracey, some Trindall/Tracey but for mine he will go with Trindall/Chad as I'm expecting Bomber to bring Chad back in. If Trindall outplays Chad, which I'm expecting him to do, it will be interesting to see how Bomber reacts when SJ is ready. Bomber said from Day 1 there were no walk-up starters, although he has been a tad slow to bench a couple, but I think the message is getting through.

Oh, and if he's fit, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nene Mac get a run at Ronaldo's expense. Ronaldo needs some of Bombers Bench Re-assessment treatment.

An inside pass has been used commonly in Rugby League for over 100 years, isn't it amazing that through all the great coaches and halves we have finally found the one man who correctly knows never to do them.
Maybe he will never allow a 4th tackle hit up either?

I'd really consider myself a supporter of not thinking I know more than the coach, who works with the players almost every day.

I have no particular attachment to Chad, I just think it is realistically possible that Bomber knows who the better halfback for the team is than any number of fans who have hated Chad long before Trindall played NRL and wanted literally anyone who could feasibly play a game in the halves to replace him.

Chad is pretty predictable, for sure. But you know what? I actually don't care. He can be as predictable as he wants as long as we are winning games, which we have been at probably a respectable rate given the hurdles of this season.
You don't win the NRL by being the least predictable (unless you were peak Tigers but they are an outlier). Penrith are streaking away for the minor premiership and they are one of the most predictable.

I'd pick Trindall/Chad this weekend and even if Trindall did visibly outplay Chad that still wouldn't convince me that he is a better NRL halfback than Chad because I know I don't see and hear everything that is going on. Once again, happy to leave it to Bomber.

Similarly I'm not gunna predict Nene gets a run because I have absolutely no idea what he has been looking like at training. I know Goodwin can fill in decent on the wing but I don't want to drop Ronnie for him.

Not sure Penrith are predictable
They challenge you from all parts of the ground nearly every ruck
Definitely not 4 boring hit ups , then a flash play then settling kick on the 6th

Like yourself I'm not privvy to what goes on at training, or in the Coach's office, so I wasn't predicting, more like speculating. And there are several, including Lord Ted's kid, who could fill in while Ronaldo gets an attitude adjustment.

I guess I'm trying to not get over excited with what I see as maybe a part of a competitive spine for this club for years to come. Chad may not have had his day, but I honestly believe his best days are behind him. C'mon Chad, prove me wrong.

If not behind him then I think certainly numbered... or at least hopefully numbered.

Still waiting for that positive piece of news that his deal is actually team option not player option and we can easily just let him go...

I think who helps Johnson more is a huge factor, arguably the biggest given how lethal our attack can be with him playing well. A top notch Johnson is our best bet to close out the year with competitive games (that and actually tackling and having equal or better possession).

Surely that's Chad, at the end of the day I know it's cool on here to call him pReMiErShIp WiNnInG halfback and say only good things he did in GF were get headshotted and pushed out the way but in that review of the Grand Final with Ennis, Matty & Cronk Ennis corrects Matt that it was Chad leading their gameplan that day not Maloney. People like to call him out on that element of his game whenever things don't go well for our team but it is persistently credited by players, coaches and ex players in media.

I did say after Trindalls first game Chad will have a real fight on his hands next year though and while I wasn't as impressed* with Trindall as most on here after this week that is still my expectation.

*I thought he was good, especially given circumstances of spine and having very little senior support, but I had 5 or 6 guys ahead of him for my player of the year voting
Lol

who said trindal is player of the year?

The fact he has shown more than chad has in his 3 games is enough for me to tell chad to look elsewhere next year.

Yeah but in our true fashion we will re-sign CT cause he will play 1 or 2 good games and lose Trindall.

Trindalls short kicking game is crap - he needs to work on that

Chad will come back in but as I wrote when everyone was losing their loads over Flanagan leaving , Trindall is the future

Trindall will lead us to a future sucesses !

Panthers are not predictable.. they strike all over the park - Who wants halves as predictable as Chad .. the halves are a creative/creating position - the most effective half in the whole comp (SJ) is anything but predictable - halves that have a running game are now even more deadly.

Lets just hope Trindall gets a fair go because you can tell the kid is more of an all round footy player then CT and thats good especially for today’s type of game
