Official Braydon Trindall

Think he got a good bump up from 'backup' halves wages (which are usually still decent) but would still be at lower end of starters. Probably not wildly dissimilar to Trindall I wouldn't have thought.
NRL average is $439k.

Atko was reported between $400-450k.

Trindall reported between $650-700k.

Either or both could be wrong. If Atko’s on $450k he is value.

Can’t remember where I heard this recently. Maybe Blake Austin…

KF and Atko might be one of the worst halves combos in the NRL right now but they are also in the top 1% of halves combos to ever have existed.

Trindall resigned 800k

Without checking my numbers for current cap, the median would be about 220k today - half the top 30 players on that or less. Not sure if the min wage pushing up a bit more might have raised it a little further, as that also raises the floor on paying players 'a bit more than min wage'

All these numbers could be miles off, although I'm looking back at a former player talking about the median quite a while back (180k in 2020)

Mean is $439k.

Not sure about median. Cap has gone up by about 30% since 2020 though. Median would be 240k-ish if the rule still applies.

So probably somewhere around that is correct for median, assuming NRL player (it was one of the Levels guys and def sounded like he knew what he was talking about if I recall correctly) was right about 2020

Ai says Atko $500k Trindall $650k. At that Tricky is an outrageous bargain in comparison. Always thought at the Jets Hiroti was a better all round player than Atko. Dykes looked light years better as do some of the kids we have there now. Nothing against Atko though really. Dargons are a curse on everyone there. I can't believe I was hankering for a Val return. He looks awful on 800k or whatever.

To be fair on Atko the role he has been doing as an NRL player is quite different than how he was used at the Jets.

The whole money comparison thing is dumb anyway. There is no objective value for any player in pro sports. Just what the market will pay at the time.

Dargons are probably fine with what he is on. It’s not crazy, they have cap space, and he will be off contract before the money becomes an issue.

Stood up and steered the team in the end, he is capable of controlling and managing games, he'll get better as he gets use to his new halves partner and role.
Be happy we have a good half who hasnt spent much time injured and has helped win us games steering the team around

Trindall went from not close to my 321 to 2 with a single kick. Was a bit of a mess but taking charge all through the game isn’t his strong suit (regardless of what wizard* tells you everyone can see). He’s more of a moments guy, but he found a moment.

*or foxy will tell you despite posting like 3 times he wants to sign the other teams halfback

He kicked a ripper, but just like Albanese lying, should not be let off the hook for just murdering earlier opportunities for a field goal, and being horrific prior to that

Usually I’m happy to hold a grudge
But since it was from 40+ and won us the game, I’ll give it to him.

Plus I just don’t think organising and being organised is his strength so I won’t hold it against him as much when he’s not great at it

Moving forward for the first FG attempt was certainly a choice

I’m not gonna lie, I was ready to give it to this bloke at full time.

Field goal aside, he’s a foil, rather than a main man

If there's such a thing as a six or seven, Tricky's proven he's a six. Made a mes or almost everything except one of the best 2 point field goals you'll see.
Should be shouting the boys for the whole night!
