Official Braydon Trindall

Was he really that bad tonight? Sure, he threw a wayward pass and maybe a tackle he could of made (maybe).

Thought he kicked really well and backed up a few half breaks.

Took charge early, but it clearly wasn't his night. Effort is not at fault.
Had a decent game as a running 5/8.

I thought he and Nicho linked up less throughout the game than they usually do.

This is what I don't understand why we plan this. I don't like the one half on one and the other on their own.

Yeah I get it you can't have too many playmakers in short ball spread plays, but man, we looked deadly when the two of them linked.

Kicking was good, still did well to compete, needs to get better in the 20m zone with decision making.
Just have Nicho roam both sides and have them combine, more dangerous with Nicho or Will out wide

Need both in form, theyve both been inconsistent.

100%
Defending that extra attacker especially if he swings behind the ruck is so difficult.

Got to wonder if Tricky/Nicho is the right halves combination for consistent performances, sometimes they don't seem to be on the same page. (and no I have no suggestion for a replacement)

What was wrong with their pairing last night? We left 2 or 3 tries out there as well.

Attack was pretty good, defence was mostly good (apart from some individual brilliance)

We really should have been up by another try or two at halftime and I can't help feeling the lack of falls on Tricky. Long kicking great, defensively up and down, totally lost in attack. I can't blame pressure, poor ball or his outside men tonight. I just don't know what he needs... Maybe Will out the back as an option and just play to him if nothing's on or to the centres/2nd rower early to simplify things?

Every time he has the ball ATM his head be like:

Sifa passes the ball to Ronnie or Nikora reaches out or Nicho goes out wide instead of dropping the ball we score more tries.

I rewatched the game this morning. I really didn't think he was that bad.

Last night wasn't necessarily the game I was alluding to, more of an overall comment on the ongoing season.
They barely linked up when we were so dominant in the first half (might just be a problem of perception). I'd expect to see more under these sort of in-game circumstances.

Yeah the ball to the touchie was probably his only real shocker... Kicking game was solid.

The Nicho drop was a gimme, for sure. I don't even blame Will for hanging onto the pill. Sifa I thought played the safe option and I didn't mind that, especially with how critical i'd been of their panicky play recently. It's just those 'moments' everyone talks about (especially around origin!) and in the finals we'll need more from Tricky to win those moments and not make them a turning point for the.opposition.

100% Agree. Ideally he would have more in his "trick bag" to take eyes off others. Opposition defence don't seem to need to throw many bodies to counter him, like they do a Moses (speed & step) or Reynolds (step and dinky kicks) as Trindall does not have a step, quick acceleration or a top tier dinky short kicking game in behind the line. For instance, I don't recall him breaking the line, racing down field and setting somebody up. Short kicks hit and miss.

He has a stellar long kicking game and an intangible gift or arse of putting himself in the right place to fall on balls in or close to the try line - it's quite uncanny.

In my opinion, the hard working donkey in the spine - no frills but solid (ish)

When we’re within the opposition 30, he just looked very panicked rushed at times when he doesn’t need to be.

I get that your brain’s going to run a million miles a minute when it’s late in the set and you get the ball unexpectedly during second phase play, however he gives off that same vibe when he’s got plenty of time to play and our attacking line has it’s structure.

Granted, it could just be the way Tricky naturally looks when we’re on the attack, but when he makes the wrong play it can stand out as a big negative visually.
