I love the backhanded compliments for Trindall hahaha.

back to form, credit to Fitz for letting happen, no clubs wanted him .. (no one knows this for sure) unless they are Trindall etc etc

At the end of the day every chance the kid gets to play halfback which is his actual position more often then not he performs - nothing new

Agreed mate, I certainly won’t be back handed in my comments, he 100% deserves the praise.

Outside of the trial game and those really short cameos early on Trindall had been great this year in all of his performances, regardless of position. He’s also been dominant when he has played Cup.

That was not the case last year. He is a better player now. He’s calmer, and has improved both his defence and his fitness significantly.

It’s not backhanded for someone to say that he has improved, but it is dishonest to pretend that he was always playing at this level.

To be fair mate you are referencing one person's opinion.

I think most people are agreeing his form this year when he actually starts (as opposed to the 10 minute cameos) have been great.

I agree with most of what your saying but last year he had great games at halfback also… can’t discredit that.

I agree, this year he is getting better and more composed playing the long game

I think everyone has said that.
It just doesn't change what has been a shaky history, or that he and the coach have done well to work things out. Which was my post.

At least we are having conversations about players in form. Better than the other way around!

I think sometimes it depends on who the forum poster is making the statement about a player haha

Was surprised reading the stats how many involvements/pass receipts Tricky actually had as I felt or at least it looked like Hynes wasn't using him enough taking on alot of the attack near the line or upfield himself instead of spreading it to what is usually Matt Moylan on the left.

We wern't playing an expansive game with wide spreads though , at least not early on seeming to prefer to play tight and run our plays through the middle a player or 2 wide of the ruck and trying to expose some Dragons forwards and tbf that did work in the first few minutes Nicho bagging an early try

This is exactly what I disagree with.

He had some great moments/touches last year at halfback but had no consistency across 80 or week to week (shock horror for a 22yo hb). He did enough good stuff for a nice highlight reel, but their were big gaps in his game, and his defence was dreadful.

This year the consistency has improved and his defence is up to scratch. He is patching the gaps. It’s great to see. His game is coming along nicely.

I love tricky but hearing he likes the slaps and a beer too much.

Any fringe NRL player should be having a very serious look at going sober and cleaning up their diet.
Been enough examples over the years of fringe guys going up a level and crediting diet and habits, and guys like Cam Munster saying the improvement they are seeing in themselves after going sober.
You'd think it was worth considering if you were serious about trying to get to the next level.

A lot of guys get to the level they are without a lot of sacrifice though too, so it seems like the rewards should keep coming without it.

Much easier said than done when talking about young blokes of course, but the NRL is a hell of a carrot.
