Hopefully being names as 20th man or whatever gives him the motivation needed to lift another gear. Play well against the Broncos, Storm in the next 2 weeks and ya never know an injury or two and you could be playing SOO. Lift boy lift!

Every chance they switch back to a two hooker rotation... likely at Hynes' expense so I'm not wishing it, but he's genuinely very close to a start this year

You never know, Luai could not perform and loose his spot and Hynes take it, injuries to Cleary or Luai and Hynes is in the halves and maybe you have 2 hookers on the bench.

Wait - you think they're going to drop Hynes for Brailey
haha sure TS :)

If Blayke were to get a game you'd think the most likely scenario would be Freddie deciding he needs two hookers more than a utility on the bench. It's the gameplan they ran out last year so it's not a stretch to think they might go back to it. I think it's a slightly stronger posibility because I don't really see Nicho as a true utility who would cover a bunch of positions and that might work against him keeping a spot on the bench.

As fun as that conversation would be, it no-ones saying it would be that they 'drop' Hynes 'for' Brailey.

The best scenario would be that Hynes plays out of his skin, grabs the 6 jersey for games two and three and Freddie decides another hooker should fill the bench spot. Hellooo Blayke!

I can't see how Nicho makes it on the field. It would only be if NSW has an injury in the halves. Your not going to take Cleary or Luia off otherwise. If Teddy goes down there is plenty of cover and I can't see him playing any other position in the backline. In NRL he could play lock at a pinch if needed but in origin he is going to get ran over.
Feel like this might be a waste of a bench spot and he will be sitting there until the last 10 minutes and expected to come on like Trindall does for us.
I would prefer a hookers (Blayke or Cook) on the bench. Hopefully Freddy is playing silly buggers and the plan is to drop Luai at the eleventh hour and add either Blayke or the Tigers prop to the bench.

One of my good mates is a pennies fan. Reckons Luai has played a bit of hooker in the past. Maybe he fills in for 10-15 mins and Hynes goes to 5/8

His decision making and service have been on point the last few weeks and has made some good runs outta dummy half but his tackle % has been falling away lately.

He used to only miss a couple a game and be in the 90% but now its becoming more normal to see him miss a handful or more and be in the 80% but I am ok if he is better with the ball and he has been pretty good lately

But if the blues need another hooker at short notice they will just call up Cook who was next up behind API

I think if things are going well, he may not see much game time... if we are chasing points he gets the Storm role in the middle to try and generate something.

There is no way he's ahead of Cook, and no way he's playing nor was brought into the squad for anything other than experience. But on season form he's definitely got a seat at the table next to Robson for 3rd in line, and I wouldn't be surprised if he got a call up if both Cook and Api were unavailable.
