I think point two makes it clear.
Give me Brailz, but if you want to see kicking and running he'll need a gamplan and some firing players around him. We're a bit pedestrian across the park at the moment and it doesn't help.

And if I were a politician, I'd be bad... Very bad.
(not Keving Spacey House of Cards bad, but pretty naughty I'd say).
You would be the only person on earth that’s picking Brailey over Mahoney..

We’re not pedestrian at all, as a dummy half you’re pretty much directing the play, directing who gets the ball, when and where you want your forwards to be you know like more important things that actually changes your team and their style and the way they play rather then what these cherry picked stats show you

I love how let’s all of a sudden focus on stats when half the time people on this forum swear they live by not focusing on the stats.

Mahoney is better then Brailey it’s pretty obvious

I know it's only a manner of speaking, but since we're playing that game, make that two. ;)

Use Brailey and Mcinnis, two dummy half system. Both signed long term, could be more effective if they get it right
McInnnes didn't even get a mention on snowy's teired hooker list though.

Wiz said Mahoney was 10x better then Brailey .. so that sounds like Brailey is next best.

Alot of fans seem to want Brailey to kick more but let's not forget how inconsistent he is with this skill

It's all or nothing he either kicks an epic 40/20 downtown, slots a ball off his foot in behind the posts for a try OR he channels the worst of Brayden Trindall kicking the ball into legs or sending it firing out of a cannon over the dead ball line for a 7 tackle restart

Ennis was a bit the same like that when close to the line putting in rushed kicks that often didn't come off

There might be reasons we don't see Blayke kicking much beyond just simplifying his game. Considering Matt Moylan kicks a relatively small amount for a 5/8 and Wade Graham has almost retired the kicking boots you would think if our coach had confidence in Blayke's kicking game it would be a no brainer for him to take on a bit of the load

Not sure how much time the coaches have Blayke working on it at training but doesn't seem to be a focus

I had a look the other day at kicking quality (statistically) but then realised it didn’t have all the info I needed.

Reed was even on good outcomes (40/20 or drop out) vs bad outcomes (kick errors).
Blayke was narrowly positive.
But didn’t have TAs for kicks so not complete enough info, didn’t look at other hookers.

Vaguely speaking although Reed kicks a lot more and gets more good results he also kicks quite a few dead

Is it just a coincidence that all the top hoookers play behind dominating forward packs? Or a great kicking & organising half? Supported buy an elusive fullback?
It’s not rocket science
It isnt rocket science, but if you don't have those surrounding players, you still want a dummy half who is influential, dominant and is a threat in the middle, that draws in or attracts defenders giving space out wide. Brailey needs to be more creative or crafty, he's more of a defensive dummy half at the moment

Journo/ex player (the worst kind) gives his opinion on Brailey with some more meaningless stats that only make it look like he's growing as a player:

"Ennis also called upon dummy-half gun Blayke Brailey to showcase his attacking ability next season. Brailey recorded seven more try assists this season than in 2021, as well as 11 more line break assists. Ennis believes he can be the catalyst for a major improvement next season, to take the brunt of the attacking burden off Hynes. “I think Brailey, who we saw at different stages this year be given a license to be more active out of dummy-half and he is capable of that, he is a very creative dummy-half,” Ennis said. “That may be an area they can look at in terms of controlling their attack to try and provide some variety in attack.”

One of the things he does that is frustrating is his sudden stop to pass when he takes a scoot. He's made good metres and then just suddenly stops to pass...it's like dude keep going you have the defence on the back foot, but instead that sudden stop gives enough time for the defence to brace and limit his metres.

He's utterly frustrating.

We could probably delete everything in this thread and just keep this.
