So club legend, John McMartin would not have registered fro a single Dummy half run in his entire career . He topped out at about 22 kph - like most hookers from the 70es & 80es, but by jingo - he could win a scrum against the feed…

A fact I was unaware of - in 1976 McMartin recieved 10k from a local sharks businessmen to move from Parra - one of the first third party agreements.
I was aware of it when it happened, and he was THE best hooker in the game back then, back when they actually had to strike for the ball when the scrum was actually a scrum and the forwards were pushing...

I want him to dig deeper into his trick bag. There's a scheming, skillful little ****er in there.

Back to playing like a pussy the other night.
Just run at the gaps Blake run!
I reckon he's actually the quickest in the team over 40 meters. Not that you'd know.

He's running, but doing it Damien Cook style... run 8m of the 10m to the defensive line and then find a pass.

I'm not blaming him for not running atm. He's not getting what he needs to make it worthwhile

Cook sometimes go all the way through to the tryline though and scores. I think Cooks first instinct is look for the tryline then pass if not on but it's the opposite for Brailz who shits himself at the sign of a defender and cant wait to get rid of the hot potato.

I guess when your small and your PTB speed is as slow as Blaykes you don't want to get stuck being tackled with the ball.
He doesn't make long big clean breaks up field like Cook does.

But honestly someone needs to be pushing up with him and supporting, he isn't gunna telegraph or know when he's gunna run in advance everytime so gotta have some ready at a seconds notice.

This should be WK's job Gards. He seriously needs to do more of this.

Sometimes, yeah

Cook has 23 tries in 153 games, including a hat trick against the bulldogs the other week. That's a strike rate of 1 try every 6-7 games.
Api has 20 in 151, a try every 7-8 games
Blayke has 9 in 67, a try every 7-8 games.

These guys are not streaking away for tries at some excessive rate. Yeah Cook probably has more long range tries than Blayke but not by some spectacular margin. More often he is getting try assists or line break assists, which is what Blayke is trying to find. He doesn't quite have the pace himself to sneak through the gap as much though, so does more of his ball playing before the line.

Grant has 11 from 37, a try every 3-4 games, but a stack of those are close rangers. I'd assume the vast vast majoirty.
