The thing is, yeah he was poor today but his games this year hasn't been anything special either.

Nah I think he’s had his good games and some solid games this year, but there’s been some bad ones and your going to get that with a young 9. I just think patience is needed when working with a young spine player.

Youngest regular 9 in the comp.
Looking forward to a big year from him next year though

I hope you're right Bort. It's like he's regressed this season. Hesitant to run etc. I thought out of all our players that the rule changes this season would have suited him the most. Just hasn't happened.

I did see a forward pass from dummy from him
other than that did ok.

one run he took - one of the broncos was soooooo offiside. never got back to the ten. a call was never made

circumstances and decisions that just don't go your way sometimes!

Was he a big runner in juniors? Has never really done heaps of running for us.
Needs to get a bit stauncher in D and kick a little more
I do think he gets drained a lot in D being such a lightweight still, hopefully fills out a little more like his brother

Yep, have to put it down to him saving his energy.

Can’t have that next year but

Think McInnes helping out more in middle D (and Finucane please) and a bit more muscle will help him a lot
Or at least, I hope

Really hoping we land Dale.
Together with Cam, they will shore up that middle and take some pressure off BB which will hopefully allow him to “play” a bit more.

BB, Kennedy, Trindall and Nicho could make for a great long term spine (“Melbournesque”)!
All young and plenty of years ahead.

Today was his 50th FG game, that’s 2 seasons in FG, happy to play him for the remainder of the season & even give him first crack next year in a very new looking team but I’m hoping Fitz doesn’t think he’s undroppable, he’s shown enough glimpses to persevere with but needs to his start playing more of a dominant role within our team & askmire questions of the opposing defence

What was wrong with him? In the set where Trindall knocked on from dummy half, all dummy half responsibilities were in the hands of Johnson and Trindall.

Was he crook?

This wasn't the only set that he left that task to others.

The forward pass was terrible.

Look, I like him but he just doesn't take the game on and tbh I just think that's his personality.

I thought he liked to run the ball and place a lot of attacking kicks in, in the junior grades?
Maybe he is being reeled in by the coaches?

he got away with another forward pass or 2 as well but so did the broncos

brailey isn't aggressive enough in attack or defense to really assert himself. just feels a bit passive like not taking the game on . needs some mongrel or something , his big bro shows more intent and killer instinct at newy . if he can find a hard edge it will compliment the skills we know he does possess . age is on his side but it wont protect him for ever. he was OK today but that's about it and unfortunately that's about all he is most weeks. you can find an OK hooker almost anywhere in the comp but we need better if he can't deliver . didn't like his defense today either but was ok with ball in hand despite a few dodgy passes

Doesn't help that he's lacking any real leadership around him. Cam should really help next year

I love this guy and I back him, but I swear some of those play the balls he wasn’t ready or looked shocked the ball was there for him to pass.

Disappointed but I hope he bounces back

Stick with him. Another preseason, dozen games and some healthy competition will push him to the next level.

Lets not forget that Cam McInnes wasn't an exciting hooker, he was very much pass and tackle. From what I can find, McInnes' best attacking output was 4 tries, 6 assists in a season. Coincidently, the same as Blake produced last season, his first full season starting.

I would love to have a hooker that can spark us and control a game, I think Blayke could get there as that guy but agree he is a way off it yet. However, if we start looking for answers at 9 in Cam I think we will all be disappointed. McInnes will be a fantastic 13 under these new rules, I really want to see him play there.

Agree.
13 for Cam, with Toby pushing into 8
