Stats aren't everything, I like Blayke but he's not even close to Reed.

Mahoney's pass from dummy half is possibly the greatest we've ever seen and instantly gets his pack on the front foot with momentum.

He's much better at picking weaknesses out of a defensive line and sending the ball where it needs to be regardless of where his halves are calling for the ball to go.

His game management is decent but beats Blayke's by default because he has ****ing none after 3+ seasons of first grade.

His support play is better and so are his runs from dummy half, although again he wins that by default by being willing to take a tackle instead of throwing a late pass that undoes any advantage from said run.

As I said I like Blayke, but he needs to make a big jump forward this coming pre-season and the mental side is where he needs it most.

Bro Mahoney creates way more for his team, his headgear keeps in all that big brain energy
Blayke definitely needs headgear, but I couldn't stand covering up a single millimetre of that beautiful baby face

If we re-sign Graham, (which I dont want), make him into a ball playing lock to interchange with Finucane (yes I know they both have a history with concussions, but both are senior players and seen as leaders, so they will always be in the 17 as first choice) make them co-captains. Use Mcinnis as a No. 9, need some spark in the middle, especially out of dummy half. Use his speed and tough running there, either start Brailey and have Mcinnis come off bench to spark something or start him and then move him to lock when Brailey comes on. It's proven by top teams and origin that having two dummy halves can be more successful, especially how fast the game is and the amount of work dummy halves do now. Also allows each dummy half to play with more intensity, use all their energy, instead of 1 hooker trying to conserve energy or getting worn down through the game.

This gets Wade off the left edge, where we can finally have someone else make it their own permanently, either Talakai or Wilton, or even a specialist on the market

I like the idea of Wade at lock, I think he could be good for us there. I just can't get past wasting the interchange with Cam when we have an 80 minute hooker. I'm not a fan of reshuffling the team with interchanges either. McInness proabably isn't going to give you more than Blayke at hooker these days either.

Apart from that, great post ;)

Love it mate. Now we're in the Rugby League version of Saw.
It is easy. Brailey. For two reasons...
1. Wrap Moses, Brown, Gutherson, Papali'i, Lane and Matterson around Brailey, bring with them their style of play and Blayke would do everything Mahoney does and some.
2. Brailey is a Shark and Mahoney is a dirty Eel.

That’s a call and a half!

I stand by that statement, much better Hooker's with better crafty moves to get you trys sure.

But in terms of pure service to your big men to get them rolling forward? He's the best I've seen in my lifetime.

Hell of a way to deflect a question .. you’d be a good politician.

I didn’t ask you to bring players over I asked who do you prefer

I think point two makes it clear.
Give me Brailz, but if you want to see kicking and running he'll need a gamplan and some firing players around him. We're a bit pedestrian across the park at the moment and it doesn't help.

And if I were a politician, I'd be bad... Very bad.
(not Keving Spacey House of Cards bad, but pretty naughty I'd say).

Brailey can play 80 mins, but I still think you could get the best/more out of him if he knows there's another fresh dummy half waiting to come on. He is at his best when he runs more out of dummy half in a game, yes it's off the back of when forwards get a roll on, but because he plays 80 mins he doesn't do it more often so he can conserve energy. Even if Mcinnis doesn't give more than Brailey at dummy half, atleast he can move into lock during games, and main thing is give Brailey a breather, or have him off the bench fresh so he can do more 👍🏾
