Too big and slow for hooker. Don’t know what the future hold for him. Does some good things but over plays his hand a lot too. Certainly learnt that from Gal. If the game returns to the creative ball playing lock days he could have a solid nrl career.

I know this is a big call but anyone think this bloke could be a Hodgson style hooker? Has a similar skill set.

He is a very good player to have come on in a game at 13.. is very different to the typical locks.. could be a good thing.

Why do you think he is so different to other lock forwards? What do you believe are the best strengths of Billy's game?

Which 13 can play 6 ? Does that answer your question

If Billy can translate his game to NRL level it will be a game changer. Having a bloke in the 13 who can be a link player and organise the middles would cha he the whole shape of the team.

I think it’s awesome. Not just Billy - I think it would be fantastic for the game in general if we had more teams structured like this: Pick some skill players over big boppers and open up opportunities for guys who probably wouldn’t have made the NRL 3-5 years ago... too slow for the backline and too small for the forward pack.

Not sure if it’s cause he looks to be carrying some extra pudding but at times he resembles a young Greg Eastwood

Yep I agree, want more movement towards this, has been some in last 12 mths. Initial signs also, Some Jnr Reps I think starting to move this way, rather than just picking biggest side.

We need more ball players in our team?

Yep. That’s the point. The game is slowly moving back to picking footballers over athletes in certain conditions. It is much better than watching monsters bash it up so a few “spine” players can run block/sweep moves and the winner being decided by who can better execute near identical plays.

Take a footballer and get him in the gym > find an athlete and try to teach him footy
