Yep. That’s the point. The game is slowly moving back to picking footballers over athletes in certain conditions. It is much better than watching monsters bash it up so a few “spine” players can run block/sweep moves and the winner being decided by who can better execute near identical plays.

Take a footballer and get him in the gym > find an athlete and try to teach him footy

100%. Radley at lock and some of those Pommy Raiders, whilst still good athletes, are predominantly "footballers". Was at the NSW CRL 14/15's Rep finals at the weekend. Several games in extra time were won not by the better structured and coached team, but by the team with several outstanding instinct type players IMHO.

Is Radley as good as what he's cracked up to be? I know he's been shuffled around a bit this year, but is he as good as the hype?

Too true. Canterbury cup is often good watching because they don’t defend or execute as well, and make more errors, so the game opens up, and surprising things happen. It’s also notable how often guys chip and chase in that Comp. That’s gone in first grade.

I applaud Canberra exploiting a loophole in the stripping rule this year, and the short drop out that we used to such great effect earlier in the year, simply because it means the Comp doesn’t look like the same team in different jerseys.

I didn’t have much hope for this bloke. Watched him a bit in 20’s and wasn’t overly confident he would make the transition to first grade. He’s definitely stood up since then and upped his game. Looking forward to see if he can continue that progression... he’s definitely a far better player than I thought he would become

Thought it was interesting last night club that was hosting the Sharks players asked if any of them wanted to say something to the crowd and four of them (Blayke, Ronnie, Connor and Teig) all instantly turned to Billy and pushed him towards the mic.

Makes sense Connor and Teig wouldn't be the ones to speak but Blayke and Ronnie have both played far more NRL than Billy and thus could have been expected to speak. Could be anything or nothing but it made me think that out of these younger guys he was clearly the one that had a sense of leadership about him.

He also very definitively stated they would be winning their pool games for the 9s because he hasn't come all the way here just to play two games, whereas Blayke was more of a 'I think we can give it a good go' kind of answer.
Blayke was still a positive answer but Billy was a firm 'we will win'.

What does this even mean ?
Tim Mannah held his spot for way too long just because he was captain. Being a captain is not good enough reason to hold a spot. Good talker but average player. I hope Billy Mags isn't like that.

Will be a Cronulla stalwart. With a head only a mother could love. But he's not big enough or classy enough for Origin or Test rep.
