Official Billy Burns

Burns has been great in the middle too. I’d rather Nikora AND Burns in the lineup over Burns and Kaufusi / a rookie, or Burns and anyone you can get on a one year deal.

Moving on Nikora and signing an equivalent middle on a multi-year deal to replace him will not save money and it leaves them with no experienced second row depth. They could sign a depth middle AND a depth second rower but that’s not improving the 17.
I think that's a better pecking order. Kaufusi's an odd one... It could be that his role has changed so often that he hasn't had the chance to settle into doing anything that excites the fans. I really thought he'd be our offload guy, but that hasn't been Sharks footy. Perhaps the French influence will help mix things up a bit and we'll see players in different roles (and loved/hated differently as a result)

Oregon has gone from a solid starter* to a bench warmer, 16-35 minutes across 11 games, unused twice.

Obviously one Fitz and the coaches feel doesn't mesh well with the way the game is played now, bit sits equal first for Sharks forwards for offloads, with Billy, 2 more than AFB who has played way more minutes. Hau Tapuha has one more offload this season than Hazelton, by virtue of having a single offload. So Oregon definitely provides something in the middle our other props don't.

2023: 11
2024: 26
2025: 17
2026: 2... for Newtown

It'll be me mate, but I didn't follow. Does that mean Oregon sits equal first for offloads this season off two games? That sounds crazy!
I guess it's about them being effective offloads as much as anything. If I remember correctly, we haven't been good at it. Maybe practice makes perfect, so we'll not get any better at it either

Nah Oregon's played way more than 2 games. I have corrected a typo in first sentence to 11, not sure if that threw you, but certainly wouldn't have helped.

He has started 2 games for Newtown but I'm not including newtown stats for anyone.

Oregon is 5th for Sharks for average offloads, beaten in the forwards only by Tuks who is 1 from 1. Ronnie, Ramien and Hynes all average more than 1 (but less than 2) per game.
From a team perspective, we sit 11th for average offloads (9.7), within only 5 teams averaging more than 1 per game than us.
These five teams leading the average are Tigers (12.6), Dogs (11.5), Raiders (11.2), Titans (10.9), Panthers (10.8)
So very broadly speaking it is hard to say we are too hurt by a lack of offloads as most 'relevant' teams have a similar average to us.

I think plenty of us want a stud FB but I'm still not sure who our FB is if Will leaves, any ideas?
Ison and Will both off contract next year, possible both can leave for better offers. Would look at Joash Papali'i, if we cant keep one
Read his post history HB, he's probably mentally transferred us a dozen fullbacks over the past season and a half.
Anyone with half a good game gets an 'X to sharks'
Will is on 1 yr contracts and Ison has been injured and development delayed, look for an upgrade or someone with experience

Personally I think Oregon could pull off a beret

Will go down in the stats for a few missed tackles but his rushing defence and first up contact to slow a few down before others finished them off was very handy. No worries about this bloke being a mainstay in our side. There is room for Billy, Wilton and Nikora and if they are all firing it will be a good thing.

He seemed to be the only one that could read, make contact and tackle Fuller.

Yeaterdays game shows why relying on missed tackles as a stat on its own to rate a player is total nonsense.

Hear one of the pundits( Fittler i think) say you know how well The Sharks are going when Burns is on the Bench, been one of their best players all year ( or some such)
