It was probably now or never mate. Would’ve had to let someone else go otherwise. Hopefully Uele can step up.

A question to those with a good knowledge of the lower grades.

Who would be next in line after Uele ?

All the best over in England Ava. Question is now, once the NRL accept Segeyaro with us (if they do) do we bring him straight in off the bench or still a few weeks for Newtown?

i read an article saying Uele and Ava were rested for a game in Reggie’s due to our mounting injuries, so in terms of forwards, I’d say he’s next in line

Edit* I read your question wrong. No clue who’s after Uele

I would think Cruz and maybe rudolph are the big bodies next in line. I think Rudolph is injured though

Im not sure of the stipulations surrounding development players playing NRL, Rudolph falls into that category though.

Looking at our top squad the only other forward I can see is Billy Magoulias.

Left field, but maybe Seggy doesn’t get his NRL contract and we line another forward up instead. We are ok for hookers atm, but our forwards are looking very light

After swapping Seg in for Ava we still have one last top 30 spot. Can bring in whoever.

After (maybe even before) Uele I’d play Gal next at prop - start at lock go off after like 20ish and play prop in the second half.

yea even though he signed on with us well before various other players who have come into the squad so it wasn't like he was a newbie. I hope the weather isn't too unkind for him over there, at least he should get more game time now and can be a good player for Leeds

never did wrong by us on the field either - even if he went to the wrong side of it once

He is quoted as saying he wants to play in England one day so perhaps even if he didn't want to go right now he did eventually want to go.
The more money I assume came on offer with Merrin leaving certainly would have made it more appealing to want to do straight away.

He's 27 so yeah, I'd say he's going 2-3 years before he would have liked.

Doing us a massive favour, truly hope it works out for him.

Certainly helps us out a lot, I'm just saying it's something he did want to do (eventually), it's a contract extension and it's presumably a pretty good pay raise - he seemed to agree to it pretty quick given it was announced as done like a day or two after the Merrin news broke. Perhaps an offer too good to refuse.

It's not like Leeds have just picked up the rest of his Sharks contract so he's going for the rest of the year only or something.

He was solid for us if not much more and he'd started to fall down the pecking order to some younger guys here so a good opportunity for him to get back into a top 17. Good luck to the big fella - hopefully nobody there knows about the wrong end of the field thing...

for what ever reason he fewll out with us, he is better than sorensen and capewell but unfortunately it was backrowers that got hurt and we brought woods in

he was ok for us, not spectacular and he now has a 3 year contract on good coin

i wish him nothing but the best of luck

Who would be next in line after Uele ?

Depth forwards:
- Magoulias is in the top 30 would be next in line
- Topai-Aveai is in the top 30 but just returned from injury on the weekend
- Jolliffe trains with the NRL squad but is not in the top 30 so would need his contract upgraded to be able to play NRL. He’s probably been the best of the Newtown forwards IMO
- Vasquez is a development player so isn’t eligible to play NRL until after June 30
- Ditto for Carr and Wilton who are edge forwards
- Rudolph is injured, and also a development player. He was primarily an edge forward last season by can play in the middle
- They are now at 28 contracts and will need to replace Ava in the top 30. It’s possible they add Jolliffe to the squad

nice - was worried this thread was bumped for bad news. was always a solid player for us and was unlucky to have been forced out due to cap space
