Johnson had speed and skill all around him for 3 years now and cant deliver. He doesnt deserve his spot in team of the tournament and we looked hopeless without chad the last game

Capewell looked like the best of the new bunch and to rest a new guy and let a loser like brown play for no reason at all? Flanno just being himself. Getting rid of chad forced barba to play first receiver and that doesnt work for barba

Might have to change the tag on your avatar .....unless you've just defected to the Eels

who had Johnson to pass it too, we had Chad. they also had a team full of speed and mobility

Having a playmaker who is light on his feet is very important. Chad isn't built for the nines

You weren't impressed by Chad?

He was our best player imo. Looked really good out there

Just read a FoxSport review and they singled out taga as the star player for us for the Tournememt.i must need to watch closer cause considering his size n pace thought he underachieved.

Taga is our version of what T-Rex is for the berries!
Plays a blinder of a game every so often, then goes missing for 6-8 weeks living off that one game.

That's why I wasn't too upset when he wasn't named in the nines today.

Just a hunch but I thought that maybe Chad impressed Flanno so much in the previous games that he didn't want to risk him in any more.

Nah....it's impossible to reason with Flannologic.

I am starting to get nervous about our first four games now.

Surely Flanno can't stuff this up now.....

Like plenty of others have said, now is the real test for Flanno, he has a good pair of halves and some fast and classy backs.

Let's reserve judgement until we see how things turn out. Proof will be in the pudding. (Proof pudding will also be on the menu at the Toup Kitchen ... as will humble pie ;) )

he wasn't bad mate. My point is that I don't think we chose a very good 9's squad. Chad like a few others played well. But from what I saw there were better halves in the comp then Chad.

Personally It doesn't bother me how they went, like I said I wasn't expecting much but there is enough there to get excited about the main event if flanno chooses the best squad, barbs at fullback, bird in the centres and Chad will do well with maloney

Capewell impressed me the most out of the new blokes. I like he's style and I don't think he would let us down if he got some games coming of the bench.

Yet Chad did quite well including his running game.

How did Cleeland play? Does he look like he could possibly handle first grade encase of injury to our halves?

I've been reading that bird to right centre looks ideal? And Barba to be starting fullback come round 1. Thoughts??

Chad's running game improved by quite a bit during his time in NZ. He'll be a good foil for Maloney.

if you forget todays game yes. They were a bit weak today. With Maloney and Chad in the team they will be able to pick their moments. And no Paulo may help

Personally i dont think he can handle the step up. He seemed slow, his highlight was a one on one strip.

Bird should be centre but can only play down the right , he has to be told to stay there

Barba looked good in the first 2 games as a link player. Found holes and looked zippy and faster then last year but not like 2012 barba.

I can see capewell pushing leutele further down the pecking order aswell
