Lichaa isn't in our cap so a direct promotion of Brown can't happen. This is an insight I recently was told. It is at the heart of the dummy spitting. He was never going to get a regular bench spot this year. Would of blown our second tier cap.

I did also hear though that we are only carrying 24 in our official Top 25. This was to keep a spot for a back. It was earmarked for Fergo.

Makes you wonder if we were the club that had approached the NRL regarding him recently.

Looks like Fergo is off the cards for everyone....although if we signed him while he was injured or when he is closer to recovery I am sure we could negotiate a much cheaper deal

TROUBLED footy star Blake Ferguson’s year from hell has got a whole lot worse with a serious ankle injury sidelining him for six months.

Ferguson underwent surgery in St George Private Hospital on Friday to have pins inserted in a break he suffered while training.

Even if he was not de-registered and allowed to play NRL, the former Origin star would be flat out lacing on a boot in 2014, such is the extent of his injury.

Blake Ferguson spotted having a cold one after swearing off the drink.

“I can’t play football again for six months,” Ferguson said from his hospital bed yesterday.

“If I could find a club, I could probably get back for the finals so we’ll see what happens.

“I did it while I was training. I was always hoping I could play again this year.”

It has already been a hugely eventful six months for the former Canberra Raiders and NSW State of Origin star.

Sacked by the Raiders late last season, deregistered by the NRL, losing his first boxing bout, converting to Islam, being caught drinking and being found guilty of indecent assault.

Fallen rugby league star Blake Ferguson is considering a switch to rugby union with the NRL continuing to refuse his registration.

And Anthony Mundine has been there, refusing to cut him loose “because, he’s family.”

“This is another big setback but you’ve got to remember he’s only 24 and there is still plenty of time,” Mundine said.

“It was unlikely he was going to play again this year but who knows what will happen in 2015.”

Ferguson said he will always be grateful to Mundine for his unwavering support.

Blake Ferguson’s farcical foray into boxing.

“Choc is always there for me,” Ferguson said.

“Moving ahead I just hope there are no more setbacks and Choc can do a deal and get me back into football.

“That’s what the aim is.”

You guys hear Gal on Triple M today? He was asked if he has any direct involvement in recruitment, he said no, but he's got to play here next year so he does have an opinion on who he wants us to sign. He said he'd like to sign a new halfback because he wants Robbo to replace Morris at hooker, he suggested Mullen, but conceded we probably can't afford him (Joey Johns sneered at him). His other suggestion was Robert Lui (AKA wife Basher) he said we should also sign a front rower to replace Fifita bit didn't offer any names. He did say he really would like the opportunity to work with Blake Ferguson again, he sounded very keen to get him back to Cronulla. Gal surprisingly revealed a lot and was very honest.

Id take lui and fergo and I reckon robson is gonna replace Morris so maybe we should promote brown next year as a bench hooker ,he would add alot of flare. Id love grant as our front rower and some young bloke .I dont wanna spend alot of money on forwards we will still have gal lewis toop graham and taga , we will still have a very strong pack.

gal mention anything about backs or just ferg?

Nah just Ferguson, he also said the club should keep IDG, so I dunno what he thinks about Brown. I don't think Lui will leave Townsville, didn't he knock back a massive offer from the Warriors because he wants to repay the Cowboys?

Ferguson would be great for us! Solve our x factor but if he was to come he would be here next year and thats also gordons last year so we have alot of recruiting and retention to happen for a couple years

if robson moves to hooker degois can go or stay in nsw cup, one boring hooker is enough for our boring style
