Isnt maloney a free agent next year? Maybe flanno is thinking a chad/reynolds combo for 2018?

there are a few people around the shire that are of the impression that chad thinks he is a lot better than he is

yes, he has won a premiership, but as i posted, so did shane perry

what cchad wants and what chad is worth are 2 different things. much like bird

Cool - thanks - TBH I'm not a Josh Reynolds fan at all. Way too hot and cold.

I think Maloney's resume speaks for itself now. If J.Bird is indeed gone I'd look to use that money extend Maloney into 2019 rather than chasing Reynolds or anyone else.

What if Bird and Chad both go?

I'd agree with this. He has his moments but he doesn't seem to be able to control a game like the best halves do, or turn it on its head with a piece of brilliance.

I love that he always has a go but while he's an NRL standard half, I doubt he'll ever be a dominant one. Look at the other #7's out there. Cronk, Thurston, Taylor, Hunt, Pearce, Cleary, A.Reynolds, Cherry-Evans, Johnson and Norman are all stronger, and you could argue most of the others are too.

my guess on the reynolds saga is to play him at 6 or 7 on the previso chad is leaving

on whare, a mate of mine knows him well and last he spoke to him, he wouldn't come to cronulla for all the cash in the world

While you assume Whare won't be getting Bird money he'd be a good get but if he wouldn't come you may be able to get Chanbers attention for the money we were looking to sign Bird for.

Or, we could be a good chance of getting both Curtis Scott & Taane Milne for less than Bird money, two better than good young prospects.

it's all fun and games...if both bird and chad have not yet re-signed then why doesn't bird do a brooks and accept the sharks offer....I doubt we can keep both..this will mean chad has to go and bird gets the halves position ?

More likely the other way around

Well because we're not matching Newcastle's offer and nor should we.

3 of those guys are considered top 10 players in the game. Unfair comparison. Plus - that's not the question, because it's not like we have our choice of players. The questions are 1) is Chad worth what he is asking for?, and 2) can we replace him with an equvalent or better player for that money or less?

Based on 2016 peak form Chad was in the top half (this is considering Pearce had a poor year and Norman was out). I'd also argue that Chad is better than Ash Taylor, who basically has the comp's best short kicking game but no other skills worth mentioning.

Unfair comparison? He's playing halfback, generally considered the most influential position in the team. I'm not bagging him – I love the Chad – but who are we meant to compare him to if not other players in his position?
