I really don't know if his brother would be the one that would actually make much of a difference tbh but a few of us on here have said for the best part of 2 seasons we're a decent prop short in the squad and it shows at the back end of the season particularly when we start getting rolled through way too easily

Yep essentially we r playing with a back and 3 hybrid 2nd row/props on our bench. We dont need anyone expensive or world class, just some big guy who can run and tackle hard for 30 minutes

Not sure JSL is an out rig front row prop. Think he is more 2nd row / prop hybrid.- source bwb

nearly every bench guy we have is. Although its not like most of them dont have the bodies to be a decent prop either. The minute Prior and Fifita are off we really drop. However we were giving them easy metres from the get-go last night

Yep, noticed that Cleary. Was at the game last night and even in the warm up we looked flat.
Sides are coming at us hard from the start and we just don't seem to recover.
Hope we can turn it around.

We use to recover in the second half but the last few weeks it is now the opposition turning it on and stepping up in the 2nd stanza

[h=1]NRL: Cronulla Sharks prop Andrew Fifita will keep baiting to exploit no-punching rule[/h]Andrew Fifita says the niggle is here to stay – and he will happily bait a rival player and wear one on his chin if it means the Sharks can exploit a numerical advantage in the finals.
The controversial and unrepentant Cronulla enforcer brushed off criticism from league legend Peter Sterling, who was referring to Fifita when he said, "there are some players in the game who deadset need to have one put on their chin".

And Fifita appears keener than most for Sterling's wish to be granted, indicating it was open slather on league's taunting tactics due to the NRL's no punching edict.
"The game's come pretty much to a stop with no violence and you can do whatever you want to be honest," Fifita said. "You can really get into someone and they're not going to punch you otherwise they're going to let down their team. If I can make them hit me I'll take one on the chin to make them go to 12 and get the man advantage. That's what the game has come to at the moment."

Fifita's candid admission that nigglers will continue to exploit the rules is confirmation of what critics have suggested turns some games into ugly spectacles.
Verbal barbs, jumper grabs and push-and-shoves feature commonly in spats between opposition players, who are under strict instruction from coaches not to throw a punch for fear of being sent to the sin bin.

Asked about his reaction to Sterling's comments, Fifita said: "When I first heard about it I started laughing. He's another person from outside-in having a look at today's game.
"I bet if we went back to his time there would be a lot of vice versa things. They're the games you look back to and I've seen people elbowed, punched ... everything. And they got away with it."

"There is just little niggly things you can do [today] and if I can create a 13 on 12 it's meant to be. With Sterlo ... that's his point of his view.
"I wouldn't pick on a little half. It's not right. It's the big people that come in for my little hooker the majority of the time. You learn from the best."

Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has pleaded with Fifita, one of the most damaging ball runners in the game, to scrap his wild ways in the wake of a State of Origin brain-snap in the series finale this year.
Fifita charged across the field to crash Queensland debutant Gavin Cooper's try celebration in response to the Cowboys second-rower taunting Blues utility Matt Moylan.
Flanagan publicly declared Fifita was walking a fine line and would need to reel in his wayward ways at the business end of the season.
But the 120kg wrecking ball won't stop trying to induce others into a scrap if he feels it can help his team.
"I don't sit there and pinpoint when I niggle," Fifita said. "To be honest it's hard to see and I hear from friends and they're excited by it, but in saying that it just comes out in the game. I think it's a part of wrestling and trying to keep them on the floor as long as we can. It's working for me lately."
The Sharks will try to snap their four-game winless run – and desperately preserve their top-two hopes – against a rejuvenated Roosters at Southern Cross Group Stadium on Saturday night.

Used to laugh at the AFL for their wrestling and limp-wristed slappings. Now we're the softies.

People have been killed in one punch attacks. They are all over this on the news. We can not have a spot that allows that sort of thing to happen. If you want to see that go and watch boxing or UFC with the rest of the slowly evolving population. Punching in league is now a thing of the last. Get used to it or move on.

Its easy to get rid of some the issues around league and the niggle. Ban and penalise it. might be frustrating for a few weeks but they will stop it when it starts pissing off coaches.

Watch the refs penalise him like crazy.

Yep me too, the punch needs to be brought back IMO, it'll clean a lot of this **** out of the game.

This already happens.

He's already targeted due to his past ill discipline.

Watch some of the other players get away with the same acts he does in the play the ball RE lying down/working a player over.

He has no one to blame but himself - unfortunately his ill-disciplined plays in the past has made him a marked man with the referees.

Watch how it kills us in the semis....

No errors, no missed tackles, no penalties.

Yet another handy game for such an "ill-disciplined" player.
