Dunno about you guys but after watching the footy show with him on it I'm sort of down in the dumps again, its tough to lose such a bloody good player with a bit of a personality & a personality which is hard to dislike, this guy came to us as a rough diamond & in the space of 2yrs ended up a origin & test player.

mmmm, what someone pays is not necessarily, what the "Market value" is.Anyway we move on, time will tell, wish him the best whilst with us, wish him not, when not.
Sorry man but market value "is the price at which an asset would trade in a competitive auction setting". That's all. It's not the average price that most would pay, or what most would consider to be the right price, it is simply the price it sold for. If you are selling apples you get an average, because there are lots of apples so lots of sales, but there is only one Fifita, so the price he sells for is his market value. Ask a high school economics teacher. You can talk about the market value of props, but that would be assuming all props have the same value. Unlike new season apples, they don't.

I had to write that because you kept saying "mmm".

Fifita was just being interviewed on the Footy show & he said that his wife told him to join the Bulldogs lol
I reckon this is very close to the truth of why he signed. I still feel like he didn't want to, but she's rightly thinking go for the money and the bigger more stable club. Doesn't take into account his team bonding and how happy he was at the sharks.

Not true. :p
Slide in terms of the definition of market value there is only one Fifita. Not in terms of rugby league value, but that's not the same. There are different ways to measure value. I'm not giving my opinion, or arguing a case, this is at the heart of a market system. The price paid determines market value at the time sold. That may change to a different market value at another time, but at the time he was sold that price is his market value.

This is the foundation of market capitalism.

Should start a list of excuses.

> wife told him to join the bulldogs, made decision for him
> shire house got broken into, safer in Bankstown for a familly
> Sharks didn't think he was worth 850k
> Can't look after/support family on 700k + car
> wasn't the smartest kid in school so this helps him get a start in life & a roof over his families head

What ever the reason/s he has made a decision that he and family feel is the right one for them.

Not our place to judge if it's right or wrong.

Get on with 2014 and let's see how things pan out after all the other dramas are revealed/ finalized.

Long season ahead for nut case Shark supporters

im sick of everyone whinging. good player yes. but was he gunna hold up a trophy with us? no.

he could have if we invested in a new 1,7 and 9. no offence to flash but he shoulda stayed a winger.

we cant grossly upgrade our lesser positions when paying 2 forwards 700k.

Nah yeah, you're right. As much as I find his reasons for leaving amusing, I'm over it now too. Great player but I'm glad we didn't pay him that much. As was mentioned earlier in the thread, if our recruitment/retention had any brains they would have re-signed him/ extended his contract after the first couple of rounds last season.
Anyways he's made his decision, what's done is done, no point carrying on about it.

Yeah **** him I'm over it. I hate the Dogs, they can have the ****. No prop is worth that much. At least we won't be the ones blowing our cap on a grunt.

I actually think his 2 week suspension will be a blessing in disguise.

By the time he comes back - the dust will have settled on this little saga, we will all have cooled down and Fifita will come back with a clear head.

The bloke can still have a massive year for us.

After that, who really cares.

The difference is in the NBA teams are built around a player. Kobe, Lebron, jordan, carmelo. They get support players to win championships. Carmelo aint getting that so will bail. The difference is.....the players are bigger than their teams. Thats fact. U take lebron away or durant......team dies

The other difference is that the NBA is for pussies
