If we can lock up a trio of Carney/fifita/graham you have your basic quality star power right there to build around.

Good players will come and we will be in the mix for their contract lengths. They are all young and we can build around them. They are champion players and will have us mixing it with the better teams.

Its all a matter of getting the best deals we can for players to fit in around them.

Some pretty good analysis there guys.

For me there is still a huge risk in signing a prop to a massive contract who has produced one great season, I need to see it for more than one year to be convinced I'm afraid. If the rumoured figures floating around re Fifita are true my preference would still be to sign a gun back and a half. I guess the question is who would those players be? I'd like us to make a huge push for someone like a Sezer who I believe is off contract at the end of 2015 rather than pay a prop huge money. Get into him now.

but it's not like a barba , sandow, Blair , t rex and dave taylor saga. What fifita has done I havnt seen ever!! There is older guys on here who might have,he combines speed, strength and skill
blair came from the best coached side and proved he isnt the goods without people around him
sandow I believe too much hype from the get go and same goes for dave taylor
t rex well I think he is complete rubbish in order for him to break a tackle he has to come to a stand still and kill his momentum
barba well he was good in broken play once teams got over tryna smash him and chased in a line he couldnt do much
fifita has played his style for us all year, in origin and for his country the guy is a beast! We can afford the most damaging front rower and one of the best halves mixed with a few other great players
we have bought way to much above average forwards of late and the latest and most unnecessary was prior

Dave Taylor didn't have a consistently brilliant year like Fifita but he definitely had massive wraps on him and was touted as the next big thing. He also has speed, strength and skill....in fact I'd say he has more skill than Fifita. I know I'm sounding like a broken record but he's not worth massive dollars imo yet. I know others disagree and that's fine.

Fifita came to us as a diamond in the rough but there was no guarantee he was going to have the year he had. In the same respect there's no reason to think we couldn't transform Taga or Sopo or some other forward into a beast. We have a history of developing great forwards. We survived pre Fifita, and we'll survive after him. If he wants to go, let him. We'll have a lot of coin to play with new options if he goes, than we would have if he had stayed. That's exciting in and of itself.

If I was coach I would keep Fifita as a huge priority. He aint just a prop.

I would keep Wade also, unless the cap runs out with other more important contracts.

Signing Fifita at big dollars doesn't stop us from improving our squad elsewhere - it's all about getting rid of a truckload of deadwood to fund it.

The way i look at it, you want 1 forward 1 half and 1 back to build your team around. We have our forward in Fifita, we have our half in Carney now we just need that strike back

agree, i have already touched on that.

succession planning now is simple

gordon - > holmes
grothe/ryan -> gagan
robson -> stowers/clarke/flanagan - pick the best
lewis -> sopoaga, although he will be in the team anyway
heino -> massima
gallen -> cant replace him, but can find a decent player to get him in
morris - > lichaa
de gois - > brown

add to the fact that guys like robinson, d.fifita, roqica and co would stay on for good cheap depth. maybe d. fifita a bit more to keep his brother.
l agree snow.You could add Paul Simona in there when he has recovered.

From Front Row Forum (Posts from a member with great track record)

Second offer from us rejected by Fifita. No details on figures but I have been told it is "close to what he asked for".

(THERE WAS A FEW QUESTIONS THEN ASKED AND ANSWERED ) THEN POSTED.

Lets not forget, if he re-signs with us, for the figure he has asked from us, he is taking 100k less than the Dragons and Rabbits have offered, and 200k less than the Eels were going to offer.

So, if we are short again, it still adds up.
