Anyone think he actually had offers from rival NRL clubs? Can't recall if it was Andrew that mentioned he did or something from the media, always surprised me a bit even if he had a good 2022 for the Sharks

Perhaps with the run down of his body given to him he decided it just wasn't worth it to put himself through it anymore or risk making things worse and all that surgery and rehab doesn't sound fun. Might still have to get alot of it done post footy but at least he can take his time with it and not stress about getting back to the team and injuring himself again or whatever

Andrew was one of the best things to happen to our club and came along at the perfect time just as we were beginning to assemble a proper squad and become competitive again under Flanno as me moved beyond the Sticky years.

His Grand Final try is his most famous but one of my earliest and most memorable was Andrew streaking away down field and putting some footwork on the last defender to score a try. It was then we knew we had a very special player on our hands. Think it was against Tigers at home in 2012

All the best big boy

When I saw Sharks Legend to retire - I thought it was Wade
Wade ain’t going down as a sharks legend, (will be remembered but not a legend)

But Fifita will!!!

Far out hope he stays on at the club as a mentor/ trainer

For me i remember his try vs Dragons @ Wollongong in 2013

To win the game after a Carney kick ricochet! Happened right in front of me where I was sitting. Nightingale still salty haha

He said he was in talks with the Dogs and Manly

yea, talks about not going there 😁

Yet he had his best season in a couple of years

it was 2013 - watch the replay and check out the hogs breath pig chasing him in the back ground - it was me

i nearly stacked it on the run out in the first half

Didn't you trip yourself up in a TV cable on the sideline as well?

Not surprised that leg is cooked, it’s looked it for some time. He really needs to get off it and get it fixed up (as much as they can) ASAP by the sound of things.

While it was obviously extremely traumatic I think that the throat injury was the best thing for his legacy.
Gave him motivation to put the hard yards in and perhaps a little extra rest, timed with a coach reset following breakdown of relationship with Morris.

A lot of non Sharks fans respect for him following the come back from that went right back up - he was just Fatfita for a while to a lot of people, most of the respect from his dominant days seemed to have eroded.

Glad he managed to end on a bit more of a high note.

Sad Wade looks like he won’t.

Wade, just like Fifita, is coming from a low base in regards to recent form.

So there’s no reason why he can’t have his “best season in years.”

Still doesn’t mean he’ll get anywhere near peak Wade

The reason is he hasn't got it in him. Hasn't for at least 2 years now.

Serious question, Who pays for all this surgery and rehab he needs? Us, even if he's off contract or his own private health insurance, hate to see the gap on any of it...

Sad to see him retiring but as most have said i wouldn’t want him in any other colours.

He was an absolute beast and had skill, footwork, speed like a smaller guy. One of my all time favs.
