Andrew has been linked with the Dragons, Hook has had a meeting with him, seeing he isn't playing first grade.

I'd hate for him to play for those clowns.

Thoughts?

Would be painful seeing him run out for the Dragons. Can’t let that happen

That’s sad if true... hope he is able to work something out.. doesn’t deserve his career to end here in reserve grade as it has been

If Tracey plays centre I would pick him to play this weekend 10'minutes either side of half time would be plenty out of him on a four forward bench.

When you say meeting, I thought they were just having a casual chat before/after the round 1 game.

Sure, a casual meeting in which Hook could say 'surprised to see you in reserve grade, I definitely would have you higher up the pecking order in my side, I know the true value of a player like you and someone as talented and hansom as you is surely still able to play NRL' and then Fifita says 'I agree with all of that, maybe I need to look at changing teams'
And then his manager rings the Dragons and says 'yo you serious about my boy Andy or what?'

And now we have a scenario where 'casual chat' has easily turned into legal negotiations.

Is it weird that I read that in different voices?

Depends how many, it has three people speaking so three would be a good number of voices.
6+ and something is seriously wrong with you

If you got Hooks voice right you wouldn't make it to Fifitas line as you'd have bored yourself already.

Would the dragons pay him what he is on here though? I don't doubt the dragons ability to pay overs for players but would they even have the cap space, yea don't think so

No way we'd shift him at full price, they are dumb but not that dumb. Doubt Morris would stand in the way of a half decent deal though.
Apparently Ben Hunt has said he'd be happy to have him on board.

I can't see anyone taking him for more than 450k which means we'd have to pay ~400k.

Which if he isn't in our top 17 moving forward is probably still a good amount of cash. As we have already payed him a chunk we may only save 200k this year though.

Given he can't crack the team while Hunt and Talakai are out he is presumably a long way off.
Hard to say where to draw the line but I even feel like 400k per season (or even say 550k this year and 250k next year) could be worth it for the money that frees up on our books.

McInnes and contract extensions (Rudolf Talakai) aside if we covered 550k and 250k for Andrew that frees us 850k x 2 (Moylan and Dugan) and 600k x 2 (Fifita and Woods).
If we can extend Johnson for even 100k less that is 3 million or nearly a third of the cap we have to spend for next season. We can go full New England Patriots.
Obviously some of that money will be spent in some other retentions and contract upgrades but it is a huge amount of spending power to go after the players we want.

This is kind of the sad eventuality I've been dreading over last couple of years where we want ****ing Andrew Fifita to go to the Dragons or he just wallows in reserve grade because his knee is so cooked.
Hence why over last couple seasons I've been pushing for him to ideally retire or go to england sooner rather than later. I didn't want him to not be able to keep playing for us but I just couldn't see him making it through his contract.

Only heard 4 voices, I presume the one in my head doesn't count. So I think I'm sweet. No Donkey brain here.

Yeah i feel like this has been blown way out of proportion. Its a classic brent read scoop. Fifita talks to Hook who coached him with Tonga when they were in the same stadium as each other. Next thing Dragons want to sign him.

Honestly i highly doubt fifita will wanna take a pay cut to go to dragons so either we chip in or they pay full price. And i think if we had to pay half his wage for 2 seasons we’re dumb ****s

If he is only going to play reserves for two years at 850k where do you draw the line it would be worthwhile to offload?

An extra 450k+ next year gets us another good player to actually play first grade. That’s about 3/4 (or more) of what eels are offering Nathan Brown.

unless we could legit do something worthwile with the spare $400k or whatever I would prefer not to pay him half his wage to play somewhere else - better to just keep him and hope he comes good. dragons could use someone like him though and i deadset should care more about him playing for another club but we used him in his prime already and im kinda getting used to the idea of him not being in the team

i'll always love the bloke though and consider him a sharks legend regardless of what happens from here
