i doubt our long kicking game could get any worse than it is though, but the idea of gards in the halves is terrible

...Gardner played in the halves in his early years...hense the great pass...what makes you SO sure he couldnt do that job now?

He would have played a running 5/8 role I assume (this is quite a common thing for skilled players to have done in their junior years). He is some one I would consider playing in the halves outside of someone like Cronk. An organising half with a fantastic kicking game.

The fact that Gardner hasn't played much of a role in the kicking department for any team I've seen him play for would suggest he doesn't have a good kicking game.

Him not being an organising half is just something I have assumed but I'd be extremely confident in saying he wouldn't be.

What makes you so sure he could? One pass and some junior experience? There is a huge difference between a 5/8 in matts/sg ball and NRL.

Presto was surrounded by halves that could organise the team through out his career.

At the Sharks Dykes, Panthers Gower and Titans Prince.

Carney isn't an organiser nor is Gardner.

I'm not saying he couldn't turn out to be a good half if given the chance. However Carney and Gards would be a terrible halves pairing.
