We want to increase speed but if you make mistakes we'll be extra harsh to punish you
We want to protect the players heads but force fatigued players to struggle with technique and risk head clashes
You need to adjust your technique to tackle lower but make sure you wrap up the ball or offloads will destroy you
If you try wrap up the ball and they drop it we will penalise you for it
If you make a good legs tackle let go straight away or we'll give 6 again and fatigue you more

Should add
If you make a perfect dominant tackle we will call held straight away and rob you of a fair and deserved drop out

Did you listen to the refs report on NRL.com today???
Annesley was going through the “controversial decisions” and having a whinge about the coaches and media having a whinge about the refs.
He had some points about the missed tackle, dropped ball etc and they are fair enough and then raised this tackle and said “the ref called held 4 times”
He failed to explain why the ref called held so quickly in that situation and also that is was a deciding decision so late in the game. The muppet reporters on the zoom call with him didn’t ask him those question either (crickets after that clip) but when it came to the Panthers (Cleary hit on Bird) and Roosters penalty late after the high shot, they asked like a billion around those calls!

Ref definitely said held, I won’t argue that at all and in fact nobody is, that’s not really the issue is it.
Elsewhere in media I saw Ennis Graham and Hooper all feeling very strongly we got dogged there.

Yes he called held but way too early while the player was still on his feet.

It’s the inconsistency that annoys us.

How many times do you see that allowed by other refs for other teams?

That’s my point.
Yes, he did call held, but why so quickly?
That’s was what everyone is blowing up about.

Annesley’s defence of the decision (which was piss poor) is around the “held call” but no one called him out on the quick call at such an important period of the game and none of the media in that meeting raised it???

This is the sort of thing that gets the tin foil hat brigade going. It’s not just our team, others cop it as well and questions should be asked about this. The NRL are oblivious to the perceived favouritism that goes on.

I can’t explain it any further.

The strip call against Woods on Hunt was also a disgrace.

There was no way he stripped that it was a loose carry.

I reckon if anyone else but Woods was in the tackle it might have gone our way.

Cant blame Cecchin for that one, he originally called it dropped. It was the goose in the bunker that ****ed up.

Aaron Woods knew full well what he was doing there

Those type of brain dead plays literally sum up Aaron Woods to a T

Annesley has gone from job to job including politics since he retired and IMO has not been a success at any of them ..

Tolman in trouble for cannonball tackle? is it that thing I recall on replay where he landed on the blokes ankle that looked completely accidental????

fmd it's a contact sport with bodies in motion , those bodies have to land somewhere they are not supposed to at pace accidentally on occasion
