Official Addin Fonua-Blake

Either Fitz or Mcinnes need to pull him aside and give him a massive rinse about how lazy he is after completing a tackle.

All that laying in the ruck thing was always going to bite him in the arse someday.
It really did yesterday in the most ridiculous fashion.

According to the commentary team he recently admitted to clocking off at times during games.

This fella has a lot of bad habits in his game. I think part of that might be not using him correctly. But not all of it.

When we started to go forward there is a particular moment around about the 20 minute mark where Brailey hit him and he had an unsorted middle defence to run at but he offloaded to Colquhoun who went nowhere, with 8 or so metres in front of him to wind up I think it could have skittled those defenders. On their try off the kick, he was right there and a big body just looking at everyone else to do something. Obviously wasn’t alone in doing that, but I want my million dollar forward eating up little blokes within grabbing distance. Receives the ball flat-footed a lot too.

Every now and then we need to give him the ball a little bit wider. He also has to be on the charge. Does a fair bit of standing around.

He also didn't come across when they scored their last try.

I know he tops our metres etc, but comparing to his highlights with previous clubs, he just doesn't look like he's running at full tilt.

Saving himself for 2 weeks time? Happy for a couple of quieter games, if he and Talakai Blitz in the finals.
Been saving himself for a while then. Sifa didn’t take the same approach, thankfully. Hope you are right it carries this side deep into the finals.

I take it by this statement you haven’t bothered comparing stats on his previous seasons?

Also listen to what you’re saying- you’re comparing highlights when he’s been at other clubs to now when he’s playing for the Sharks and you’re watching probably every minute he plays.

I can probably understand that.
Because he’s playing for the Sharks I’m guessing I’m watching with more interest or critique than previous seasons or even last season.

Whilst I think he’s been enormous for us this season & at times, based off stats alone, has embarrassed some of his fellow forwards with the metres gained or even just rolling up the sleeves for hit ups.
With that, I’m talking props their individual inputs in the same game.

However, I have been disappointed & frustrated at times with attention to detail where he’s been caught on his heels or even the simple stuff like rolling the ball with very minimal effort to use his foot, in those times I think to myself, j can’t remember you doing that shite @ the Warriors.
Then again, maybe he was doing the same thing @ the Warriors except I wasn’t watching as intently or had minimal care factor unlike now.

When was the last time he didn’t roll the ball properly?

He did it in the first few rounds but surely you’re not referring too that

I don't get into stats. I just go off what I see.

Don't get me wrong, he's been our best forward by far, just feel he drifts in and out of games on occasion.

Fitzy did say before the game that he was still limited in training (due to ongoing management of calf issue).

I wish sometimes he would get that little jink and jump out his hitups before hitting the line and just run straight and hard like Big Ham and Talakai are

I know there can be reasons for doing it like getting a defender off balance or maybe setting up for an offload but he seems to over use it although ofcourse he is still making plenty of metres and PCM regardless he seemed a more no nonsense aggressive runner back in his Manly and even Warriors days
