El Coconuto's ratings for Cronulla vs Melbourne (NRL Premiership, Round 1, 2010)

3 Points - Paul Gallen: Is it too early to cast votes for next year's vacant captaincy?
2 Points - Luke Douglas: New season, same ol' Douggie. Industrious, patient, composed.
1 Point - Scott Porter: Nobody in Toyota Stadium was braver that night than he.

3 Points - Luke Douglas: Was by far our best. A must for NSW... Gone up a level. (9/10)
2 Points - John Morris: Thought he was better than Aiton, but admittedly had more chances. His tackling technique is nearly perfect. Backed up some forward's offloads well. May well be an astute buy. (8/10)
1 Point - Ben Pomeroy: Yup, up yous, ya Pom haters! I'm usually one too, but he was bloody good in that game. Stopped Inglis once, and almost another time, looks like he's worked hard to get back to his 08 form, and his catching was fine for once. Will def. take confidence from that. (8/10)

- Nathan Stapleton: Good carries back and okay under the high ball- let a couple bounce which was risky. Desperately want to see him doing some passing in attack, broncos style. Was also really hoping to see him improve his acceleration over the off-season which doesn't seem to have happened. GOT TO BACK UP THE BALLCARRIER MORE. Looks like a 1st grader though which is good. (6/10)
- Isaac Gordon: Clearly quick, looked dangerous with the footy in his hands. Would probly prefer him to have a more experienced centre inside than Fergo. Absolutely shocking one-on-one miss on MacDougall that cost us badly... I felt he let his teammates down there given how well we were defending elsewhere. (5/10)
- Blake Ferguson: Average game. He won't get much easier opposition that Neilsen and he failed to make much of an impact, but still looks like a great athlete... hopefully he'll be better each week (6/10)
- Luke Covell: Was good. Even showed a turn of foot! Let one ball bounce midfield that I didn't like, but otherwise great in defence. Would like to see one of the young, quick centres inside him at some stage (ie. Fergo or Wright). Loooove the centre kick, great play. (7/10)
- Trent Barrett: Didn't get enough footy. Didn't talk enough, didn't grab the game and get us down their half when we needed him to. Didn't get on the ref's good side with some sweet pillow talk either, and we needed that too. (6/10)
- Scott Porter: Courageous obviously. Tackled cleanly. Otherwise didn't assert himself enough. Unfortunately, probly the difference between us winning and losing. That's just the nature of the game and his position. (5/10)
- Kade Snowden: Good. Great D. Didn't break the line like he sometimes did last year, but melbourne are too well drilled for that really. (7/10)
- Grant Millington: Really solid from what I saw, carried a few with him on a couple of charges and seemed to be one of the few forwards who protected the ball each carry. One of his best games I reckon. (8/10)
- Anthony Tupou: Gotta get some dummy runners round this guys so he can actually run at holes rather than three man walls. Thought he tried hard. (6/10)
- Paul Gallen: Great work rate, and good to see some restraint in that melee. Don't like him passing as a second 5/8, though he did it okay. Would almost like to see him take less responsibility for doing everything when we have the ball and just concentrate on bending the line rather than getting in Baz's way sometimes. Apart from that, never has a bad game. (7/10)
- Adam Cuthbertson: Looks like he needs to work on his leg-drive to be effective in the middle of the park. Much rather see him on the edges, passing before the line. Wasn't as bad as some on here make out- tackled well but still looks a bit slow. (5/10)
- Josh Cordoba: I like him. Smart prop, a lot like Tolman for the Storm. Good tackler, got some footwork. Would make a great 4th prop... just doesn't have the size to back up doug and snow's simple go forward though. A long way from our worst though. (6/10)
- Albert Kelly: Tried hard I thought, and was by no means overawed. Got a bit confused with what his role was I think (the same can be said for a few of our blokes). Looks to be a good size too. Solid debut in my book. (6/10)
- Paul Aiton: Solid game with limited minutes, probably underused. Amazing hands. His short passes at the ruck are almost mesmerising. We're blessed with quality hookers this year alright. Wanted to see more running from him near the end of the match. (7/10)

Mark^Bastard's ratings for Cronulla vs Melbourne (NRL Premiership, Round 1, 2010)

3 Points - Luke Douglas: Just gets better and better. So good in attack and defence and our only try scorer. SUPERMAN TRY! Awesome. (10/10)
2 Points - John Morris: Absolutely outstanding work. Is this really the same player I laughed at at the Tigers last year? Absolute gun at hooker. (8/10)
1 Point - Nathan Stapleton: Improved, looked like a regular veteran fullback out there. (8/10)

- Isaac Gordon: Decent debut game. Looked quite good at times. (6/10)
- Ben Pomeroy: Would have given him 8/10 but for his mistakes. (6/10)
- Blake Ferguson: Solid performance. (6/10)
- Luke Covell: Solid performance. He's still a starting winger. (6/10)
- Trent Barrett: Good performance. Got picked on. (7/10)
- Scott Porter: Very good performance, especially considering the circumstances. (7/10)
- Kade Snowden: Did great work. Still needs to get a couple of errors out of his game to be perfect. (7/10)
- Grant Millington: Was very solid and deserves the starting spot. Bent the line well. Definitely deserves his starting spot. (7/10)
- Anthony Tupou: Was good but perhaps a little quiet. (6/10)
- Paul Gallen: Usual work horse. Not his best game but showed plenty of maturity and discipline. (7/10)
- Adam Cuthbertson: Didn't see anything from this bloke that I was impressed with. (4/10)
- Josh Cordoba: Was quite good, I wouldn't be surprised if he played 20+ games this year. Good bench prop. (6/10)
- Albert Kelly: I'm not going to rate him on potential or give him training wheels because it was his first game. I don't think he had a bad game, but he did make some bad reads and bad decisions. Shouldn't be dropped or anything, but I call a spade a spade. (5/10)
- Paul Aiton: Was the perfect impact hooker. Great try assist. I know Corey Hughes pulled that off last year but Aiton made it look easy. (8/10)
