Official 2026 Trial 1 - Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks vs Parramatta Eels @ Henson Park, 6pm Sunday 15-Feb

Who else is going, I’m looking forward to this, never been to Henson before, nor the pub. Even before it was announced we were playing a trial there I was going to attend a Newtown game this season just to enjoy the nostalgia of it all, can’t wait.

It’s good fun and this Sunday will be no different with so many games and the beer festival on.

Pub will be packed

I expect quite a few players might be backing up and playing multiple games give we have all our teams playing today. Might just be cameos but it's not uncommon for a player to play in a Jets trial and be on the extended bench for first grade the same day. So might see some of that.

If you are planning to go and not sure when you were going to arrive, my tip is get there early, if previous beer festivals are anything to go by lines get pretty long for food and beers so a head start on both when it’s quieter is a good idea from experience

I would expect a few from Flegg will appear for the Jets too. That happens pretty regularly in trials

First trial you can have a squad of 26 or 27 I think. Without drawing from the top 19 you have these players (21 in total) who are training with the NRL squad so need to add from NRL or Jets.

1. Ison
2. Dixon
3. Vea'ila / Hiroti
4. Gabrael / Laine-Sietu
5. Williams
6. Pollard / Jones
7. Puru / Ford
8. Hau Tapuha / Challenor
9. Berrell / Cacciotti
10. Fa'atili / Fearnley
11. Hassett
12. Hosking
13. Puru / McCullough

Last year (Vegas) they fielded a stronger week 1 trial team but still had 5 Jets guys. 2024 they had 5-6 from the top NRL squad play in week 1.

I could see them adding a player like Clark/Rajab/Latham (Jets) or Pharrel Gray (Flegg) as an extra in the backs, or another back rower (Jaxon Lavender?)

Davies, Araullo, Sele (Flegg) or JJBM/Taateo (Jets) also options if they need more middles and plan to use Challenor on the edge.

Cheers mate, I only found out the capacity of the ground a few weeks ago, my perception before then was it was way smaller than Ocean Protect Stadium. It was then I started to think, wow, this day might be a bigger event than I was expecting.

Plenty there to get excited about, can't wait for this.

Eels have named a side that should be a good test for what we are putting out there.

Interesting to me is
Sifa at edge instead of lock when we could have just started Hassett
Riley Jones way up the list says a lot about him being in our game day 19
Uele used instead of Hamlin-Uele

Remind me not to go round Eels number 17s place for a drink anytime soon...

I'm really keen to watch Ison, Gabrael and our halves in particular.

Probably reading a bit too much in to this one. Everyone listed after him is outside the top 30.

More NRL players than I expected. Plenty of kids getting a run though. Good stuff.
