2026 State of Origin Discussion.

I still don’t get the lack of big boppers on the bench - actual props. On a six man bench I would have 2 or 3.

12 months ago we were all frothing on here when Atkinson got dumped for the option of 4 big guys instead. Has the game changed so much?
Honestly, I think it's a little of this, but just as much the need to account for whatever might pop up in origin, and therefore not wanting to burn too many subs on big guys playing low minutes. I think you need to have halves/outside back cover as the 18/19, probably a spare hooker too. So you're left with 6 middle/forward spots. I'd want someone who can reasonably cover an edge that isn't Murray too.

I'd be picking the below.

8. Haas
10. Ford
13. Murray

14. Martin
15. AFB
16. Yeo

I could certainly make a case for a Terrel May cameo being more effective running the ball than Yeo, but I'd then have to be comfortable with Martin playing lock when Murray is off, or playing lock for the whole game if Murray is injured.

In your side, how are you ideally interchanging Martin, given Olakauatu (I assume you've selected) is likely good for about 60ish

Martin comes on and plays about the back 50? And Murray has extended break over the middle of the game?

Yeah think I covered that in the other post.

Ideally Haas and AFB cover each other. Yeo comes on for Ford at prop. Martin comes on when Murray needs a spell, that could be first or second half, playing as a prop shifting Yeo to lock. Bring Murray back on for Olakauatu and shift Martin to the edge. Ford comes back on for Yeo. Leave you two changes, one for a hooker swap and another for injury if required. If someone gets injured early you can have any of Yeo/Martin/AFB go long if they are coping.

This is a boring man's team led by a boring man.

Either we get a tactical genius, or someone that is going to inspire their players to run through walls. Preferably both but either is fine.

Thank you.

Felt sorry for him in the press conference, he's a nice guy, just not up to it.
Who are his offsiders ?
At least hopeless figure head Mal surrounded himself with talent to actually coach QLD

As a Blues fan it was a very embarrassing result

The only saving grace is, due to being played in Victoria, very few people would have seen it.

Ended up going to the game last night and it didn’t disappoint. Largest state of origin crowd in nrl history!

Victoria once again just shows that we’re the sporting capital of Australia 😎🤟

Also if Ponga hadn’t been incorrectly sent off in game 1, this series would be over.

How does Cleary, Yeo and Tedesco escape criticism is beyond me.

If Nicho was halfback, he would have been hooked, drawn and quartered..

Cleary and Yeo have failed to set up in this level
Yeo's one good game he played strictly prop
Cleary I think is fine (we know he is capable of more), although happy to take a healthy in-form Moses over him without issue
Teddy... I'd have stuck with Edwards, Teddy just too old and slow to be the tackle busting beast of yesteryear. But I'm not excited about Edwards either. Both offer much less threat than Ponga. But not sure NSW have that guy.

In saying that, with all the charge downs last night, Will Kennedy should be a consideration...

If Turbo makes it through the next couple of games I'm picking him at Fullback
