2026 State of Origin Discussion.

Kurt Gidley utility

Technically not under Dailey is it? Although he was one of the selectors. Last played in 2011, Daley started coaching in 2013.

But speaking of Kurt, Sticky gave us Captain from the bench. One of the many highlights of the NSW Origin team during Queensland's run of 8 series wins.

Not sure what was worse.

Gidley being the NSW captain from the bench or the fact Jake Turbo was the captain full stop.

About the same. Which in fact says a lot about NSW & Origin.
Didn't he play only about 15 minutes once, while being the captain, only to never reappear that day although he wasn't injured?

Yeah I think he started, played 20 minutes and that was it 😂

They have since changed it when pointed out they’re idiots and Taumalolo can’t play
They still didn't mention Luki lol multiple former QLD players are pushing for him to play and he is being listed on so many other origin prediction teams. Expect for Fox Sports :ROFLMAO: ****ing morons.

Picked a team 4-5 weeks ago but due to players being injured & out of form, this is the squad I would pick if i'm Billy Slater.

1. Walsh
2. Cobbo
3. Perdue/Howarth- need to figure out who is the best person to mark Latrell.
4. Toia
5. Hammer
6. Munster (game 1, if he continues to play **** I would go with S Walker for game 2).
7. Dearden
8. Tino (lucky nobody else banging down the door)
9. Grant
10. Collins
11. Luki
12. Finefuiaki
13. Carrigan

14. Ponga
15. Nikora
16. Flegler
17. Plath
18. Horsburgh
19. Shibasaki

Get a bunch of potential future QLD players in and around the group from 20-24. No point picking players like Fotuaika, Holmes, Loiero, Gagai, Capewell etc in the extended squad. Players like that are either in the 19 or not in the squad at all. Keep looking to the future.

20. J Fifita
21. Bai
22. Hau
23. Walker
24. Howarth/Perdue

It's Purdue, which usually, who cares, but I just love you doubled it up haha

Ah **** lol was meant to be Perdue/Howarth.
Thought Howarth only cause he's the bigger body and Latrell might not be able to rag doll him. However, Perdue could maybe really put it too him, especially with ball in hand. Latrell might tire out marking him.

It would be great if Briton Nikora is picked for the Maroons but with Luki in form, I'd only see him starting from the bench, I'd probably go Capewell & Luki to start & make his debut. I'd probably also be better off going for Ponga as FB, not Walsh. We still need a mix of experience even if out of form

Game 1

1. Ponga
2. Cobbo
3. Hamiso
4. Toia
5. Holmes
6. Munster (easy)
7. Dearden (easy)
8. Gilbert
9. Grant
10. Tino
11. Kapewell
12. Fuki
13. Carrigan

14. Plath
15. Nikora
16. Collins
17. Horsbrough
18. Walsh
19. Fotuaika

20. Walker
21. Bai
22. Jo Jo Fifita
23. Loiero
24. Mann

I knew I was forgetting someone, Shibasaki will be in there in the centres, Hamiso/Holmes on the wing.
