2026 Sharks Discussion

No future :(

17th - SHARKS

TOP 30 UNDER 23:

Felix Fa'atili (Age: 22; Contract: 2028), Liam Ison (Age: 21; Contract: 2027), Thomas Dellow (Age: 18; Contract: 2027)

Total: 3

NEXT BEST:

Jayden Best (Age: 17), Oliver Lester (Age: 18; Contract: 2027), Callum Grantham (Age: 19; Contract: 2028), Michael Gabrael (Age: 21; Contract: 2027), Harrison Hassett (Age: 22; Contract: 2026), Xavier Cacciotti (Age: 18; Contract: 2028), Alex Challenor (Age: 18; Contract: 2027), Prestyn Laine-Sietu (Age: 19; Contract: 2028), Jake White (Age: 18; Contract: 2027), Nikora Williams (Age: 19; Contract: 2027), Riley Pollard (Age: 20; Contract: 2027)

Cronulla’s crop of NRL players under 23 is hardly as elite as some other clubs, which has hurt the Sharks in these rankings. There are a handful youngsters that are showing plenty of promise including Nikora Williams, who along with Michael Gabrael should be in the running to take a step-up next season as replacements for Jesse Ramien and Sione Katoa.
in my sample size of 25 minutes on Sunday, Nikora Williams looks close to first-grade ready. He had some strong, Iro-like runs, especially where he barged through two defenders (Souths defenders, sure) to score

Be good to get him some more Cup before seasons out, centre or wing
But I guess would be injury driven so would have to be a positive spin on a negative only

:ROFLMAO: He's good mate. With the players leaving I reckon he goes straight in to a Jets jersey for round 1 next year. It wasn't really on show in that game but he's laid one some great passes to put his winger over this year too. He's probably played more Flegg games than any Sharks player in the last 10 years. Came in as a 17 year old. He doesn't have anything left to prove at that level but the boys do have a shot at winning the comp this year.

Sharks are possibly also wary of his contract situation. Off contract at the end of 2027 but can't sign elsewhere until April/May nest year. If he was to play 6 Jets games that changes to 1 November. No need to rush him to the Jets when other guys are playing well. I expect he gets a shiny new contract towards the end of the season and a bump into the top 36 for 2027 and beyond (if he is not there already).

I really think having Nikora, Brailey & AFB play origin this year has made a real difference.
Seems the guys really have lifted the efforts in those 1% plays since those 3 have come back.

Mates and I have just booked an air-bnb in Cronulla for grand final weekend.
These are the same mates I did 2016 with where we booked a motel roughly 8 or 9 weeks prior to the actual GF.
We all just had that confidence we would make it.

Hoping history repeats itself here. Would love nothing more in life to be able to relive the 2016 grand final day. Seriously one of the best days of my life.

Sounds very promising. His name constantly makes me think twice about who he actually is, but I'm looking forward to seeing him get a run!

Sorry mate, don't understand what you mean here. Can you elaborate?
Nikora Williams - it's like we've had a few past and present players step into the Disintegrator-Integrator machine from The Fly and out popped this guy.

That's probably confused you more... his name is made up of a bunch of other Sharks player names past and present.

Ah OK. Yes, you had me confused again with Disintegrator thing - I thought to myself, "What is he talking about now??" I believe you are referring to the Jeff Goldblum movie but I have never seen it because I cannot stand Jeff Goldblum.

Yep, you're on the right track :)
The Goldblum version was a remake - you should check out the original. It's better and a genuine classic.

Just had a look at the NRL ladder and I've seen our odds to win the GF are now in single figures $8. That puts us just behind Penrith ($2.50) and Roosters ($5). Warriors are on $10.

But can someone tell me why they are still bothering to list odds for those that are now out of contention?
