2026 Sharks Discussion

With Katoa sort of out of form and carrying an injury, Ramien and Ronaldo still injured, I’m wondering if Fitz will reinstate the whole backline when all are available. I mean is it possible by Round 11 we’ll see this familiar line up?

Kennedy
Katoa
Ramien
Iro
Mulitalo
Trindall
Hynes

We obviously haven’t had that once this season, but interestingly our old friend ChatGPT says that since 2022 when Nicho joined us, there has only been four games where that backline has been selected and taken the field. That can’t be right can it?

I can definitely be right.
Actually it's not exactly surprising if you're including Trindall, since he's only been our regular five-eight since the 2024 season.
Which saw him get suspended while Hynes was also injured... 2024 was Atkinson's time to shine.

Not to mention that Iro hasn't been elevated to 1st grade (I'm purposedly forgetting a game in 22) in 2024.

Ask ChatGPT again please.

I did, and it regurgitated the same info. What about BortGPT - @bort ?

In 2025 the back 5 were only together starting in round 27, and Trindall missed that game (Fitz mentioned it in the presser after). The 3 finals games were the only games in 2025 with that 1-7.

In 2024 Iro didn't play until round 4, and there were large stretches with one/both of Hynes/Trindall out. Stonesteet also played 5 games in 2024 so that suggests one or both wingers missed a few games too. Ramien was out in the prelim.

Katoa I suspect was managing (playing through) an injury that will end up seeing him miss a bit of time.

Dare I say the AI is right based on your query (assuming you had a straight forward question as written in your post), but the conclusion is actually totally wrong because it doesn't consider a few key variables.
And I'm not the least bit surprised.

I don't think that's fair, it's what most assistants aspire to be. I can't think of many, if any, situations where a club has refused an early departure for that reason.

Sorry, I meant to say I wasn't convinced by the Siebold suggestion.
I agree with the rest although, considering our current setup, the timing couldn't be worse.

I think he's proven to be a very good assistant in the last, like Barret. They're just not good head coaches.

There are other options like Ennis, Teo and probably others I can't think of.
