2026 Sharks Discussion

Re Ponga, the question is - which 3 players are we happy together ridnl of to pay for him?

At the moment we can afford to have some good backups
1. Kennedy - obvious as Ponga will replace
2. Ramien - Gabrael
3. Katoa - Stonestreet

Also have McInnes.

Oh wow!
Its a thing now

one question, does Ponga have permission to speak to other clubs for 2027?

I don’t doubt that people have been told we are speaking to him, but I’d hate for the club to be outed for breaking the Nov 1st rules

Lol I'm just doing that overthinking thing. Not sure how substantial the rumour is but hey if we had to lose three players to gain Ponga then I reckon those three are the ones gone.

Kennedy rumoured around the $300-$400k
Ramien rumoured around the $600k+

That’s probably Ponga salary there if he is happy to take a bit of a pay cut for a shot at a premiership.

McInnes moved straight on so he can get his last long term deal for job security would make the most sense to him and our current squad, but doubt anyone will take him untill 2027 coming off neck and ACL surgery.

If your moving two players on for one you need to keep 100-200k aside to replace the second player in the 30 man salary cap with a minimum wage player.

Tell Ponga it’s $800k first year then, $1m year two, $1.2m year three.

He can stay a Knights to rot and we go a different direction. Not sure I would wanna be having much more salary cap up in him anyways

Him and his old man would laugh you straight out the door. 😂
Oh, I agree.
BUT, if it’s not about the folding stuff, then he would consider a lowball offer for a chance at a premiership
otherwise, if he is saying that, then it’s all hot air BS nonsense

besides $700 is an exceptional salary (given he is already a multimillionaire) for a chance at glory

I would still push Katoa out, yes he has performed well, but we are missing that element in the spine that can take us from good to great. And if we need to cut costs, he's another.

Stonestreet and Gabrael can take the respective positions.

Not sure on McInnes, if he can medically retire or get another deal somewhere else then I'm cool with that. Coulqhoun and Talakai I reckon is our future for that lock rotation.
