Match 2026 Round 21 - Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks vs Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles - 4:05pm, Sunday 26 July @ 4 Pines Park

****ing hell the size on our bench haha. Nice to have the versatility of Pep and Sifa.

Strong team that should get the job done. Koula on the wing feels like an odd call for them given how good he has been at centre.

Sharks by 40.

what a team! id still be swapping tom and oregon around tho..

so whos on our injured list at the moment? is it just toby?

I think this is our strongest team except for Toby. I think AFB is still under an injury cloud so he still may not play.

But if everyone is there when Toby comes back, who misses out?

I'm thinking that won't be the side that runs out - a few late tweaks, but it's a stacked side regardless.

Getting dangerously close to "all middles healthy and available". Next game this happens will be Fitz's first.

Also have not played a game over the last two seasons where the first choice spine, back 5 and second rowers have all been available to play their regular minutes.

I think we end up dropping Sifa, Toby starts with Tommy coming off the bench

I'll be in the north end Bob Fulton stand behind the sticks with my life long Seas supporter dad. Wish me luck.
Last time I went to Brookie for the Jets/Sharks Double header the combined scoreline was something like 96-10 Sharks/Jets way. They will be out for revenge I guess. In fact on investigation Sharks won 40-6. Jets 50-8. Quite enjoyable.

if you watched the game, why did you mention us having to handle Tommy T?

Because at time of posting his injury status wasn't stated and was unclear how long he would be out but the point was he doesn't concern me that much even if he was fit to play we have him covered. Turbo hasn't been at his best for years and i've never rated him as high as others have anyway. Plenty of FBs ahead of him.

Did someone say 68-0?

Funnily enough alot of Sea Eagles fans over on their forum are concerned this is the way it's gunna go with us doing a big number on them.

I really don't see it playing out that way but I do give the Sharks at least an even chance of coming away with a solid victory but I think it could be a tightish messy sorta game, possibly the score getting inflated at the back end.

Manly are a middle of the road kinda side but at home fighting for finals and the Sharks despite being in pretty good form can be temperamental and inconsistent as we know all too well

We do have a really strong recent record over them (even @ 4 Pines) which is a nice change of pace from history. That recent record says as much about them as a team as it does us though.

Sharks 28 (sorry Nicho)
Manly 18

Apparently hasn't been going that well @ centre lately (during/ since Origin or whatever). Not that their fans are ecstatic at Feledy & Garrick there

We know what happens when all the forwards are available for selection...

Think we need to rush BHU back into the side ASAP once Rudolf is back on board. Someone is going to get injured that game, it may as well be the bloke that always gets injured anyway.

Sorry Ham, but kinda true (is also leaving the club so won't be available next season for us regardless)

No way would we want to drop Sifa out. It's prob Kaufusi or at a stretch JC neither of which is fair whatsoever as both are playing really good footy this year

Then again I suppose with the limited minutes Sifa is being given and the way Fitz is using him he might make the most sense to miss out

Better to have the problem of not enough spots for quality players than not enough quality players to fill your spots

I think most forums will be having that opinion come up since our tidy sort-out of the Phins

They are also really down on their own team right now, starting to turn on Foz a bit ect. I think they are just cutting wrists a bit over there, frustrated, losing faith and maybe throwing in the towel. We do the same here when thinks aren't working. Having the wood over them the last 5 years or so probably doesn't feel them with confidence either (like when we play the Panthers or previously Brisbane & Manly).

But scoring 50+ to nill is a rare event in NRL, no matter how good your team is and how good your form and motivation is it's a bit of a freak event. And as a team you really wanna back up that sort of performance in the games that follow otherwise it just kinda stands out as an anomaly or a fluke.

One team has to turn up and play near perfectly and the other has to turn up and be pretty bad (which the Phins were after the first 15 mins) &/or have players out.

Don't get me wrong we were excellent against the Phins and deserved that scoreline but tt might be another 10+ years before the Sharkies put on another scoreline like that. Being a day game really helped too IMO, most NRL games are at night in less ideal conditions.

You have to have next to zero confidence in your teams defense and commitment to expect 50+ to be put on you. Even in the JMO era where missing tackles on our line was part of our mission statement I didn't go into most games expecting to get belted that badly.

Probably helped back then that our attack was half decent even if the D wasn't.

Even the Panthers have probably only done it a handful of times in the last 6 years while they dominated the competition and were winning premierships for laughs

My handful prediction was spot on. I did a google AI summary of Panthers 50+ point games since 2020. On average they did it less than once per season and this is the best team in the comp. Dogs game wasn't 50 points but a big margin and a genuine blow out scoreline

I also suspect that the opposition the Panthers came up against in the below games were likely traveling rather poorly form & fitness wise at that time the Panthers played them although not sure with Raiders and Rabbits as both teams finished in the 8 in the respective seasons

We played the Dolphins who were coming off a bunch of wins and being hyped as contenders but let's not pretend they didn't have a post Origin hangover and players missing on the day. Not our fault, play whats in front of us, we had a few out too and were up to the task

Even considering the introduction of VlandysBall in 2026 that the Sharks have put on three 50+ point winning games in a single season (which isn't over yet is kinda remarkable but also kinda not. The Titans and Tigers are the kinda cannon fodder teams that are always prime for a thrashing. No huge surprises. It's the Dolphins one no one saw coming

Panthers 50+ scorelines since 2020
  • 2026: Round 5 vs. Melbourne Storm (Won 50-10)
  • 2026: Round 14 vs. Wests Tigers (Won 68-0)
  • 2023: Round 5 vs. Canberra Raiders (Won 53-12)
  • 2021: Round 11 vs. South Sydney Rabbitohs (Won 56-12)
  • 2020: Round 20 vs. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs (Won 42-0)

I think we'll probably keep Sifs till the end of the season, considering he can play centre aswell probably safe to keep him as the utility if we get a centre or winger injured during the game.

Throw him in the 18, although I don't want him anywhere near the centres.
