I went and checked this to see who it actually was, assuming the posted votes were edited.

That is absolutely taking the piss. The Dally M judges need to justify themselves because, and I said this recently also, they are not voting how the fans view the game.

Judge 1: 3 Trindall 2 Iro 1 Brailey
Judge 2: 3 Trindall 2 Hynes 1 Iro

There's no way those judges watched anything but highlights and looked at Dally M leaderboard. Or Trindall is doing something us plebs aren't seeing that Wiz could but never once managed to remotely articulate.

In 26 voters on here trindall has 1 vote for 1 point. Two 3 votes is ****ing insane.

Gee you're lucky @CrazyMatt isn't in charge. You would have copt both barrells!

The sooner everyone accepts that the whole award is a farce and stops engaging with it, the better. I wanted to say the RLPA Players' Champion Award is a better reflection of the season's best player but they seem to have a fair few howlers themselves. Bold is Dally M. It appears the players didn't like Cam Smith much!

I don't know how you fix it, but it's definitely broken.

To start with, you need people watching the games!

But I think the most realistic and fair method would be some kind of panel and tally - like we do here.

NRL sets a 15 person panel, and they have to indicate a couple weeks before each round what games they will be able to watch. At least 8 of them need to be watching a game or you pull in a standin but you should be picking people who watch almost every game, almost every week. You should be expecting around 12 of them watching any given game.

And they vote 3-2-1 and you tally it like we do on here. 8 to 15 people opinion gives a good cross section.

Groupthink eh? Sounds legit :)

There is no objective "best player" in the comp. We Just need to accept that opinion and media swell is part of it.

It has always been been that way and until they retroactively award Fifita a joint Clive Churchill Medal I expect it will always stay that way.

So the VB Hard Earned Index isn't a real thing?

I get where you're coming from, it's a team game and all roles are important and different.

But also it's Cleary.

I've said it before. Coaches should be picking the 3-2-1. Only from the opposite team. Sure when the scores are this lopsided, it would be difficult but it would even up over the course of the season.

Anyway, no system is perfect and I don't care one bit about the Dally M.

Trindall will be wondering what he did to receive 6 votes.
I guess it was a case of "when in doubt, vote for...".

Probably got a bit lost given it was our game, but just wanted to wish Adam Doueihi all the best in his recovery. He's one Tigers player I actually like.

Some key stats from this game:

Sharks had 63% overall possession.
Sharks missed 25 tackles which is very concerning considering tigers barely had the ball.
Sharks had 17 ineffective tackles, tigers only had 10.
Sharks still had 13 errors overall.
Our average play the ball speed was slower than the tigers.
We gave up 25 tackle breaks where we only made 29 overall.

Yes, we won by plenty but those stats to me still say we have a lot to work on.

I always wonder with these ones. 3 guys in a tackle and the player offloads. Is that one ineffective tackle or three?

If the Tigers offloaded 6 times in the game and each time there were 2-3 guys in the tackle that can be addressed, but that's not "17 ineffective tackles". Sometimes a legs tackle where a guy offloads is also called "ineffective", which often is unfair on the defender.

Total errors can also be a bit of a "meh" stat. Lots of fingertips on aerial contests or guys playing hot potato on the last - or things that aren't even errors really.

Hynes deliberately running over the sideline on full time was recorded as an error.
(Can't remember if that was this game or an earlier one).
