Match 2026 NRL Round 5 - Cronulla Sutherland Sharks vs New Zealand Warriors. 2:00pm, Sunday 5 April @ Ocean Protect Stadium

Match threads
Sharks penalty counts at home this year
8-3 vs titans
6-1 vs dolphins
10-1 vs warriors

24-5 total… Something seems very wrong

Lost the penalty count to panthers too 5-3 and 3-3 vs raiders

Haven’t won a count yet.

titans game
raiders game
today
we were not ill-disciplined at all, particularly in they way we played

dolphins game yeah we were very poor with our discipline and errors in particular, amongst poor decisions made by some

interesting

Burns only hit the arm, not the ball. We should have challenged.
You can’t play at arm either, and they call it even if hooker gets out a little. It’s probably not ‘right’ - you should be able to play at arm if hooker takes steps - but it just risks a lot of sloppy play if allowed.

the six again was because the warriors did not play the ball on the mark!!!!!!!! - we were called offside - six again

this is the thing
Braileys was CALLING IT OUT and nothing

ziggy gave it to the warriors

decision that change momentum in games

There were a couple but pretty sure this one was Ford stepping way off mark and around marker. Even if we were off side should have negated and made him play it on spot. Poor to allow that.

Pathetic arm grabbing from Stonestreet again as well . Apparently our defensive dominant coach has forgotten stoney 😂
Very few new wingers are good or even okay defenders. If he was practicing that it’d be at expense of things like taking kicks.

Most of the penalties especially in the second half were fair imo
However my problem is why wasn’t the same I’ll discipline from the warriors not penalized?
WK gets taken high - no penalty the very next set we get penalised for a high shot on DWZ when his arm was by his side and he fell into it?
There was a clear shoulder charge too that went unnoticed
Just seems unlikely the warriors only made one mistake worthy of a penalty all game

Stowers on Sifa I thought was probably one. JFH I think definitely did one.

Agree a lot of our stuff was reasonable. I do think more of their stuff was missed than ours though. Such as the above and taking marker out moving off the mark.

yeah weird

on to next week, though tough assignment against the Roosters
but I think if we can maintain control we will get them

In relation to the whole competition. I think that we're the second best team.
I like your optimism but unfortunately I don’t agree.

By the numbers Newcastle is.
Second by optics.

I dunno.
It’s hard to pick second when first is that far ahead.
Honestly playing in a different comp.

Panthers said they felt like the game against us was finals intensity. I haven't heard them say the same after any of their other games.

Newcastle just beat Raiders 32-12 at home
We beat Raiders 34-22 away

Regardless of how you want to assess the home advantage vs extra points leaked it looks like we are at least in the ball park.

I’d expect to be able to beat Newy, but they are going well.

You also can’t gauge the opinion of you by your opponents.

They’re your opponents.

To be the best.
You’ve gotta beat everyone.

You set your own standard.

The officiating was **** for sure but our discipline needs to be better than that.
Yeah there were a few blatant ones sure.

But I was watching closely at the six agains and there was on called on Brailey when the guy playing the ball dead set stepped a metre forward off the mark to get tangled into him.

Then a few minutes later, we get stopped for walking off the mark and made to re play the ball

I just hate when the refs are trying to manufacture six agains instead of just letting the game flow. It's not hard to tell the blatant ones.
