Match 2026 NRL Round 14 - Cronulla Sutherland Sharks vs St-George Illawarra Dragons. 4:05 pm, Sunday 7 June @ Ocean Protect Stadium

Match threads
In a way I am glad the Dragons won, I am or was worried our squad turn up next weekend thinking they have won the game by just making an appearance.
Surely this makes them take notice.

That said, in 1 game, the Dargons have scored 1/6 of their points total for the season (30 out of 172), I doubt it'll happen again next week.

Yeah I reckon stick with what worked. Hohepa played better last game, and Berrell looked stuffed, but Berrell's a classic dummy half.
Nobody passes as good as Brailey, but Berrell has a better shot at getting the ball out for our backline moves.

Hohepa might get found out by the right coach, and can have an off day. Having both as an option gives the best flexibility.
Unfortunately, without Hynes and Brailey, I don’t think our wingers are going to be seeing much ball.

We will be playing a very simple game plan.. straight through the middle

Is it confirmed nicho is out?
No specific timeline has been given, so no clue. Fitz seemed to suggest they wouldn't be rushing anyone at this stage of the season, so I think here's a fair chance he'll miss this week. Not much to go off though.

Seen this before with Nicho

1-2 becomes 4 or 5 .
I wouldnt be risking rushing him back after a calf strain. If we can't put in a couple of good performances without him then we don't deserve to make the 8 anyway.

If you saw his Instagram episodes few weeks ago, he mentioned a calf complaint back then (may have been a game or two before his 100th). These can be a ticking time bomb.

I disagree, good sir. The simple attacking plan should be to give it to Tricky. He's working well enough with Will now that I'ma little more confident that can handle more of the playmaking a get it wide when needed.

If last week is anything to go off then May is right. Ball struggled to get past our back rowers.

Yeah. It's disappointing, you have one winger with pace and the other being one of the better wingers in the game.
To be fair, Burns scored two tries out wide which could easily have been scored by our centres / wingers.

It was also the first time we had Tricky / Puru partnership - and Tricky played on the other side.

Add to that Brailey missing a lot of the second half.

Even with all that - we managed to score 28 points against one of the form teams of the competition.

No reason we shouldn't be even better this week.

Let's have some faith people*

Oh, we'll win by 40. I just don't expect lots of points to be on the wing through structured play designed to get to our wingers. That's what was lacking.

Burns's two tries out there were opportunistic from a fumble and a break. Our backline shape looked atrocious. Not unexpected with a halfback on debut, though.

Just checked the draw, a lot of teams around us are playing each other this week. We could jump a few teams with a win.

Bit of a danger game here but we're kidding ourselves if we can't beat a team comfortably who have won one game in 300 days or whatever it is.

The NRL ladder is so dumb. Needs to be sorted by wins rather than points. Cowboys sitting in 9th but have more wins than 3rd. Storm sitting in 13th with one less win than 6th.

At least the Dargons are where they belong.
