Match 2026 NRL Round 1 - Cronulla Sutherland Sharks vs Gold Coast Titans 5:30pm, Saturday 7 March @ Ocean Protect Stadium

Match threads
Tbh I rated the game 6.5.

We dropped our bundled and shut up shop in the first 20 mins of second half.

We need that killer instinct, we should of put them to the sword completely, having that mind set would ensure no slacking off

To be fair, we couldn't buy a call in the middle part of the game and that really stifled our momentum. If the 50/50s fell evenly I think we get 60 at least.
Nikora late hit
Strip on Uele
Soft 6 again for slow
Pretty soft high shot penalty
An offside (which I’ll assume was fair)
Toby should have got closer to holding up Verrills on the line
Plus sure there was another couple things too.

Plenty of them were our own fault but we had a bit of a run of bad luck and they are a good attacking side. Turn around 1 or 2 of the above and we probably only concede 1 if any.

A good attacking side getting a run of momentum against you for 15 minutes of a whole game isn’t the end of the world.

Home now… that was fun sat in Monty porter stand for the first time it was ok. Seriously how bloody humid was it took 3 vodka lime n sodas to wash down my German sauso dinner and get myself in a happy place.
Will plan another qik dash up later in the year.

As Chad said, I think it was less about what was called on us and more what wasn't called on them. Plenty of similar instances where we were pinged and they weren't. Not the end of the world as you said though, just thought it's what contributed to the mid game stagnation.

Seriously the leagues club 3/4 quarter built at best looks the same as it did last game i was there, roosters semi final.

bai being offside on the kick chase when he cauaght the ball which lead to their first try

Such a relief to get to the 50 points against the Titans and know that the Sharks premiership chances are still alive

When Iro tackled Kini into oblivion and we got penalised for a late hit after we started to run away with the ball - the coverage said the late hit was for Nikora tackle, not Iro and they would find what tackle it was.

They never did, anyone have any idea or was it actually for Iro?
Two or three tackles before on the other side of the field. Such a nothing hit we had to scroll for a solid minute or two to figure out which one it was, and the ref let it go until there was a linebreak and serious tryscoring opportunity on.

Looked like Brailey has continued his form from last year. Ran well and looked more dangerous.

Captaincy has been great for him

yeah quiet achiever
Tricky got all the accolades and fair enough. Brailz was solid

On three occasions, he pinned the offside players and got nothing. Maybe if sharks rename him "Harry Grant" on the team list - he might get the penalties!!!

They hand out 6 agains willy-nilly and no one knows why for a lot of them. But for some reason dummy halves attempting to force the referees hand on offside markers doesn’t seem to get rewarded. It’s not just Blake, I’ve seen it a bit this round.

Not paid even once. It was borderline criminal.
The ref probably thought he'd give us an unfair advantage by signalling penalty/6-again.

He needs some head gear

At times, all Harry has to do is give a look to the ref to say,
‘hello, I’m waiting, either blow a penalty or give me 6 again’
