Official 2026 NRL General Discussion

I would take great pleasure in the Saints breaking the record for most consecutive losses in NRL history, which is 19.

Imagine getting sacked for not playing a bloke and then after he plays like twice stuff like this starts in the media.

Meanwhile, Kade Reed is clearly not ready at this stage of his development to stay playing NRL for the rest of the season.

While I praised Young for having the courage to at least give Reed a shot after Flanagan’s departure, it’s now clear that the lightweight youngster should be given at least the rest of this season to develop in NSW Cup before he becomes the Dragons’ long term No 7.

And this is certainly not a criticism of the 20-year-old who still only weighs 78kg.

While there’s other players in the league as light if not lighter (Souths halfback Ashton Ward is reportedly the NRL’s lightest player at 74kg), it’s just the reality that Reed is not physically ready to handle the defensive requirements needed to play NRL.

Yep. It's clear as day Reed isn't ready. Maybe Flanno did know what he was doing after all lol

Can not believe though Gutherson was signed on 900k a season. I was keen for him to come here a few years ago but fmd we dodged a massive bullet if that was his asking price.

I didn't want him at any price, you could tell his body wasn't up to it which is why Parra let him go. Terrible signing by Flanno.

I didn't think Gutho would fall quite as quickly, I thought he'd get through this season passably. But that's definitely overs given the risk. He was already starting to look a bit beat up at times.
And don't think most would expect Holmes to be channeling Moylan in defence.

Flanno didn't have much luck with his recruitment. But not really any evidence anyone else would have had a much better side out there instead.

Good young forward pack plus Drinky will be good a starting point for someone else. A better starting point than Flanno had.

Maybe should have just trusted that that was already clear to his last coach who had seen a lot more of him and whose job it was to determine these things. But now that Paul Crawley has run his eye over things, we can all rest assured.
