Official 2026 NRL General Discussion

It’s weird, but there is weirder

“Rugby league’s weird at the moment.” You said it, Kalyn Ponga.

After injuring himself back in March, when NRL 2026 was still relatively normal, Ponga came back on Sunday for a 14-try, 80-point farrago that looked more like the NBA than the NRL.

The night before, the Roosters and Broncos had put on 62 points. Two hours after Ponga’s observation, the Sharks and Tigers had given fans another 62.

Weird, but not as weird as what rugby’s Shute Shield has become. On Saturday, Gordon beat the Hunter Wildfires 66-54 after leading 47-28 at half-time.

If the Shute Shield is the NRL’s future, maybe someone should stop and think.

Almost a third of the comp is now illegible to win the 2026 NRL premiership based upon the 50 points conceded in a single game rule

Does that mean that come the end of the regular season if the Panthers and Sharks are the only teams not to have conceded 50 points both teams go straight to the GF?

Trell has personally outscored the Dragons by 2 points to date this season
With them facing Knights they will be up against it to reclaim the Dragons v Trell lead, but hopefully we can also restrict him a lot.

Last team to concede 50 just automatically gets it, no finals needed.

TBF if there was ever a year for that hoodoo to break, this is it. Knights won having conceded 49 and I bet average teams were letting through was a bit less that season than this one!

There needs to be a midweek comp (SHAMCO Cup) for all the teams that have gotten 50 put on them. Winner gets a wildcard entry into the proper NRL finals series and a leg of Ham

The last game of the regular season this year is Panthers vs. Tigers in Rnd 27 on a Sunday 4pm. We know the Panthers like to rest players in the last round if they have nothing to play for. A slim chance they might concede 50 in that game but I doubt it

Mind you the Sharkies have to survive the rest of the season without it happening to them. Last time we conceded 50 was against Panthers in 2020

So Radley wasn't charged for head contact because it was deemed accidental.

I have no words.
Even he seemed so shocked not to be suspended for anything haha
Great video of him finding out live if you haven't seen it
