Official 2026 NRL General Discussion

Just on the Dragons, I have a mate who has supported them since he was a kid, his Dad supported them and I think other family members did too.
I caught up with him when the Dragons had lost their first 5 games and he said he was seriously considering defecting as he now lives in the Shire about 10 mins walk from Shark Park.

But it seems he couldn't bring himself to do it as when I saw him on the weekend, he told me he is staying with the same colours, just a different code. He'll be in Swans gear until the Dragons can resurrect themselves!!
He wouldn't have lasted long as a Sharks fan 🤣

I'm not sure of the reason but the Rabbits did have to apply to the NRL for dispensation allowing him to play. Jye Gray was injured but not sure if they had anyone else to replace him, although Latrell could have played fullback possibly.

@bort do you know more about this?
Nah just saw a rabbits fan arguing they should be able to get it as they will say it’s not in Trells best welfare as he hasn’t trained to play there, and as the better player if he could play there they would
Not sure if that was the basis for what they actually argued

I don't think the better player thing should come into it, that pretty much applies to all NRL injuries.

Wighton and AJ can both play there as well. I can't see the point in having the rule if it's this easy to get around.

You should have explained he was a cross-dresser at the beginning mate.

He's not a real fan if he's doing that. Plain and simple.

Mmm not sure if anyone is in the same boat but I've been struggling to watch footy if it isn't Sharks, even then I'm not as phased if I miss our game as I used to be.

I'm losing alot of interest in this game, the refereeing and officiating is killing it.

Agree - The rule changes and way the game is officiated is embarrassing. NRL has become cringe. It's mind boggling how they could take such a good sport and **** it all up so bad, I don't know wtf I am watching anymore, it is **** but fans are gaslit to believe by the NRL that everything is great and this is how the game should be played and managed

As long as the $$$ keep coming in though the NRL will just power on with their own agenda ripping another piece of the soul of Rugby League out season on season

Games have become more unpredictable yes but so has F1 this season and I've already lost interest in it this year due to gimmicks and new rules

The sport is just a circus now and as a fan it becomes difficult to find ones bearings. It's like someone took my comfort food, took a big dump on it out the back of the alley, gave it back to me and called it ice cream. It's being force fed T20 when I actually prefer a Test Match

You can light a chess board on fire and now the outcome of the match is "exciting" and unpredictable. The problem is you just burned down your chess board... and the whole ****ing table

Yep 100% agree and I don't know anyone personally that thinks otherwise. The problem for people like us is crowds and ratings are up so people like us are ****ed.

Watch them cut it all back, as always, for Origin and everyone raves how much better it is. Yet we'll probably go back to Shitsville once it's over.

The most worrying part for me is it’s already round 8 and you’ve been watching.
I hope your realised it wasn’t ice cream much quicker

I'd be more worried if the analogy was someone emptying his beer and refilling with urine. Then again if you're a VB drinker you probably wouldn't notice.

So now that it has been confirmed that Flanagan and Flanagan were the problem at the Dragons, what happens if they get flogged this weekend?

Same thing that happened with Hook and Mary. Be **** for another 3 years or so and sack the coach.
